I have just installed the above into my Z and it's great! Am like a dog with 2 and possibly even 3 c***s

I just walk upto the car with the fob in my pocket and as I get within 2m of the car the doors unlock

When I get in the car if I put my foot on the brake the start button flashes green and when I press it the car starts, pressing again will stop it

If I'm just wanting to switch the acc on while in the car I just press the button once without touching brake and the button goes blue and acc is on. Press again and goes off

I then get out of the car and walk away, listening to the clunk of the locking as I shuffle more than 2m away from the car.

The fob has lock/unlock over ride buttons on it just in case and is also able to remote start the car... AWESOME!!

That sounds good mate. You should do a quick video showing how it works. Sounds very modern indeed

This sounds cool. How much did that cost? My ignition barrel may need changing soon as it is getting harder to turn the key these days.

Thinking about it, what did you do about the steering lock ?

  • Author

I installed it myself and there's quite a lot of work involved. I put my spare key in the ignition switch, turned it too first click to switch steering lock off and then snapped the spare in the barrel. The hole in the steering cowling has been totally blanked off and covered. There is no ignition loom connected to it now as this now goes to start/stop module that is firmly secured right up behind the dash were it is near impossible to get at without removing loads of stuff

You could always remove the full barrel and lock

I can supply them. There unbranded but are as good a quality as any of the top brands in the UK. The wiring harness is probably the best quality I've ever seen.

I run the system as a full alarm system with microwave sensor and door/boot/bonnet protection but I can supply the start/stop module on its own without the RFID alarm for those who want to keep there own alarm/immobilser

How much to supply the start/stop module, I presume it comes with the smart start/stop button?

Yeah u get everything you need. £95 delivered inc vat

And that will function with my existing Laserline alarm/immobiliser?

Hi mate , can you give more details on the full alarms capabilities / functions?? Pager ect ,........

Was thinking about doing this to my own :) with various other alarm systems a while back

It's got door/boot/bonnet protection plus a single zone microwave sensor. It's not insurance approved as it only has a single circuit immobiliser built in (mines an auto so that's all that's needed). It has remote start built into it aswell.

They do do a system that has the same features as mine but with a fairly decent 2 way pager built in aswell(1km range)

The same as what happens when the battery in a normal fob dies, you use the key to open the door.

Look at top pic

And its RFID PASSIVE so the lock/unlock doesnt run off a battery its like the transponder chip in your ignition key

So the car would still start if the battery in the fob was completely flat?

Yes it will. I've now got my film director/producer hat on and the video will be posted in the next hour

It's a fancy thing but you could turn on an audible sound for activation could you ?

Also, what if you're tootling along and your partner reaches over , or you drop your foot long subway sandwich and it accidentally presses the switch - would engine cut out like it would if you turned the key ?
