Surely someone must have view - Controversial or not :D

Waiting with antisipated breath...

I looked for some in Halfords but they didn't stock them. Ended up getting mine from Nissan (about £20-£30 I think).

(Their mass was acceptable too!)

May depend on the size of the Hlafords. They have quite a few in our local Halfords.

I got some for £16. Locking wheel nuts are locking wheel nuts.

Hi,

A while back I was on the auto express web site, go take a look and have a look at the review. I haven't bought any but, when I finally get new wheels, I will.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk

go into "product test", then "Locking wheel nuts"

Jez.

ps. Halfords get a pants rating.

I seem to remember AutoExpress reviewed locking wheel nuts by a company called Carflow which has now disappeard and according to a web search was bought by CQR Security. I just checked their web site (http://www.cqr.co.uk) but can find no mention of the wheel nuts.

Just checked the AutoExpress web site and these weren't the best but there must have been some reason why I looked into it at the time, maybe because they were the only ones to fit a Zed ????

I got mine from Elite in Essex. Don't recall price but similar to the Nissan quote you've got above.

The McGard look the best with 5 stars, thank goodness i did not get the halfords 1 star botch jobs...

Only problem is where do i get a set of McGard from - the link on the express site takes you to the OEM page (nothing much on that site...)

Anyone know where i can get a set - well priced to at £29 compared to the halfords £21 'please take my wheels' set ;)

Andy,

Is there some spec for the zx nuts then? (showing my ignorance here..) ;)

I takes it there are differing sizes/specs and not all manufacturers do them? My last car car with them already had them on...

I have also been looking for locking wheel nuts. I checked Halfords but the only do their own make which come with bright yellow caps and there is no way I'm having them on my wheels even if they are only stock 16"ers.

Elites on the A13 is the best bet if you are not too far from them.

Sorry not sure, maybe I just saw something that made it obvious which ones you should buy. I did some searches for the McGard ones, but you always seems to have to know the thread size and everything, don't know that of the top of my head tho.

I got mine from a Les Smith store. They ordered them specially and very quickly. They fitted easily and you get a code to order new key nuts in case you loose them - not that I'm that stupid!?!?

The people in Les Smith seem to know what a car is (and are old enough to drive!) - not always true of Hfrds.

AFAIK the thread size is M12 x 1.25

Did some searching for the Mcgard nuts, found this site:

http://www.machine7.co.uk/Cart/Locking_Bolts_and_Nuts.htm

They seem to be selling them at £36 a set a bit more than advertised on autoexpress but its the only site with prices on.

It would appear they are thatcham rated too :D

I will email them and see what size/type they reccomend for the ZX.

Thanks for the spec Andy - does that apply to imports and UK models???

Anyone else found a price/place?

Will let you know what they say...

Barry

I got mine from Carnossieur. They did have the McGard ones and they are the only thatcham approved ones on the market, but i went for a cheaper set as i didn;t take enough money and the cheaper ones looked better. Don't know what make tho.:)
