Hi may as well get all these things answered as im here , the oil gauge between the speedo and fuel gauge can anyone tell me what that should be reading? Mine always sits just before the 2 (first digit)

that sounds a little low... but it isn't a conclusive sing that you have oil pressure problems..

 

it's only a sign that the gauge is showing you a low pressure.

this could be because the gauge isn't working correctly.

it could be because there is a circuit/wire issue.

it could be the sender unit or connector has issues.

 

do the cheapest, easiest checks first..

 

check and clean the connectors to the sender unit (passengers side of the engine beside the sump).

 

if that doesn't help you can take the clocks out of the dash and check for corrosion and clean the connectors.

 

next would be to replace the sender unit (I had to replace mine, I think it's quite common)

 

and obviously make sure you're not using too thin an oil (particularly for a stock original engine).

Passengers side, ok what sump? Oil sump? Underneath? Or is it at the top somewhere thanks by the way

the sender unit is on the passenger side mate...90% of low pressure readings are related to this bugger going bad which iirc is about £90+ from nissan...much more accurate to Tee in a after market sender and get another gauge in the cabin.

I think the US cars have them on the right side and it may very well be the case that some JDM also do... .. mine is JDM and is on the Passengers (left/near) side along with the oil filter (away from the steering).

 

a little peep under the car will confirm... not a biggie really is it??!!

4kg/cm2 is 59psi so that looks about right.

Its going down a little as I drive about....

Should be 3.6 - 4.6 kg/cm2 @3,000 rpm (= 51 - 95 psi)

Im not the most cleverest bloke when it comes to diagrams like that but I can see it says idle speed 3, 000 mine always ticks over just under 1, 000 ill give the sender a clean and see if that makes any difference its due an oil change also so maybe that will help, thank you all for your support :)

It gives you the pressures expected at idle and then also on the next line it gives you the pressures expected at 3,000rpm. It is not saying idle = 3,000rpm
