Well I must be missing a trick here.

How the hell are you supposed to remove the passenger headlight without taking the whole car apart??

Driving me mad!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As it stands at the moment, I can't see anyway around dropping the recirculation valve just to get access to the last bolt.

Is there an easier way?

Talk about frustrating or what.

Primer all done.

I went for Red Oxide in the end, but I am beginning to wonder whether I should have gone for acid etch though.

Still, done now. I may have to re do at a later date if they show signs of deterioration once top coated.

It never seases to amaze the transformation that takes place

Slightly disappointed with my attempt at a gloss top coat.

At first glance they all look quite reasonable, it's just that some have a gloss finish and some have a sort of satin look about them.

I think I may have not allowed enough paint per Item so as to truly build the paint thickness up.

Looks like I may have to consider another top coat to develop the all over gloss effect.

Fitted the brackets etc' today.

Finally feel like I am getting close to completion.

Just the seals to clean and re attach the foam inserts and I will be there.

So, with the bracket fitted and the seals cleaned, I set about fitting the seals.

With the use of some double sided carpet tape, I attached the top of the seal to the upper most bracket making sure I had located the tangs correctly.

This helped me align the seal to the rest of the attachment points.

I also loosened all of the screws holding the brackets so as to allow me to fit the seal correctly to it's location points before re tightening them up.

I am pretty happy with the overall look if I was honest.

Yeah......took ya long enough :tongue_smilie:.

It all comes together at the end once that rubber seal is fitted, great work and your attention to detail can only be given the highest praise .

Before I re fit the headlights, I thought I would spray a protective layer of wax.

I use the bilt-hamber brand, very effective.

Opie Oils, (Oilman to us) now sells it at a reasonable price.

Excellent service as well.

Thanks Mondo.. :thumbup1:

At this very moment, I am dismantling the headlamp mounting brackets and the seal retaining brackets so as to treat them in the same way.

I think I will also coat the inside of the seal itself just for good measure.

From there I will then finally be in a position to re fit them to the car.

I've got to say I agree 100% with Phutumsch... stunning job, they look new!!

Cheers Medallion Man.

Finally managed to get them fitted today.

I will wait for the light to fade later and do some alignment against the garage door.

OK, starting to panic a bit if I was honest.

I lined everything up by eye and hit the switch.

Can't believe the difference in light pattern.

Am I missing something or have I dropped a clanger somewhere?

Any ideas guys as to what could be causing such a difference?

Good build, I have done similar recently with my own but didn't get that anal with cleaning the casing, (did clean but not to the same degree as you)

not sure about your light pattern , here is a pic of oneof mine built up, I was lucky that my reflectors were in good condition.

Don't know if I'm stating the obvious here but the light pattern on the o/s I recognize, the n/s however I do not :surrender:.

Can only suggest and I'm sure you don't want to hear it's something to do with how you've put the projector back together, something upside down perhaps :confused1:.

Started to think that myself Phutumsch, so with the lights off and a bright torch I peered inside through the lens.

I could see that the cast diffuser was the same way up on both, there is also a tell-tail flat on both at the top that is just visible. (phew)

On that note, I decided to persevere with alignment. After some time, I did manage to make some headway.

Well at least I managed to get something that manged to look similar to each other. Not sure if it is correct though.

Still, after setting both projector lights and main beams, (several times) there still seems to be an imbalance from off side to near side though.

Could this be a voltage or earth problem? or something more sinister? I hear that there are diodes of some sort involved.

Not sure if this is relavent, but when I switch from projector to main beam, the near side comes on a fraction of a second after the off side.

The near side iirc supposed to have more of a triangular pattern to light up the kerb side of the road. Look up headlight pattern on google

Quick question, what did you use to remove the glue that was holding the foam one? I’ve tried a few things and nothing’s working one it.
