That EGI label/position is for a relay.

Thanks Andrew, but what system in the car does it control?

I googled it as I didn't know think it's a fuelling relay, it's related to shut down procedure. There's a fair bit on thereof you type in EGI relay 300zx

happy to help as I've been staring at wiring diagrams for the last few days. What I'm not clear on though, are you referring to the red EGI fuse, or the big Green relay as missing?

Thanks Andrew, but what system in the car does it control?

That relay provides +12v to the ECU (power sections), CAS and AFM. The EGI relay is also shown as the ECCS relay in the FSMs

I have. What year is your car?

It's pretty vital for it to work, however, doesn't mean the loom hasn't been 'tweaked' at some point in it's life ...

I've attached the circuit diagram for '90 models. This shows the ECCS relay, together with the IGN relay. If you look, they are

practically running in parallel, both switched by the ECU pin 16, and +12v fused unswitched supplies. I did come across a post

on TT.net, which the author was also missing the EGI (aka ECCS) relay. That leaves the factory merging the two, or possibly

a previous owner did the modification. You could also check that the switched terminals of the EGI relay socket hasn't been

bridged with a small piece of wire.

Thanks very much Andrew ill have a look and see if theres been a mod done

FYI the EGI Relay also feeds power to the AFM & CAS so either the relay is bridged or the loom has been played with
