I haven't done anything performance wise to my car yet it's had a zed world ecu so far. Looking at cat back exhaust and single air filter come as dual is pointless unless running high bhp. Also looking at getting interior trim kit to match car colour and new seats but don't no if I would have to modify rails. What else do you all suggest open to any ideas.

Thanks

I got my first z 5 months ago now and the list of mods you can do on the 300zx seems endless I have had losts of performance cars in my time but nothing that you can tune up and mod so much have a look on sum of the 300zx web sites the best ones are in the usa and you will realise jusr how many uprated part you can buy the list is massive

As above the list is endless. It's best to figure out what your aim is then shoot for it. Breather mods make a big difference in response and power on these cars. Before any mahout modding I sujest you get cambelt etc done.

I have the Zworld ecu along with Apexi cat back exhausts Hks single filter and boost jets fitted for a mild 340/350

BHP. Plus if you want your interior done then check out our club trader Mondo under Hide n Seat Auto Interiors his work is top class and at a great price.

I've seen the interior trim kit for about 100 quid which ain't bad considering its a 15 piece set.

What is the general condition of your car mechanicals?

Before spending money on any performance bits chasing higher numbers, I would spend money on getting the car working and running 100%.

Spending you money on exhausts, or intakes etc etc, is utterly pointless if your bushes are all shagged, or half your wiring is borked.

Generally the car is in good nick lil bit of welding. And a brake fluid leak it's the pipe going from caliber to mechanism. Been told its a home made pipe lol. It's not the brake flexi hose.

like lexx said do the before you start messing round with new cam belt new oil filters and would well be worth looking at the brakes to I had a few seized pistons in mine didn't even know before I strtiped and rebuilt them make the car safe before you make more power and get rid of the hicas what a total piece of utter sh*$ I hate that thing so much

there are many on here that will say how good it is and how it a good thing. all I can say it drove the car round for a while then one day I unplugged it just to try it and I never pluged it back in just waiting for the full delete kit now to remove it propley .since unplugging it I now feel what going on on the back end when I had it on the back some times felt like it couldn't make its mind up and always drove round thinking what going on with the back wheels the front wheels are for steering and the rear wheels are for putting the power down and that's the way it should be

I've had no probs with mine tbh. I try not to get the back end out as I can't imagine these 245 rear tyres being cheap

I love my Hicas. Great piece of kit.

did you mean great piece of sh*+

my hicas works fine but i'm not sold on it either. just bought the eliminator kit as I preferred the handling on the old n/a, plus the bushes are shot

Lol let me educate you Dan. Back in the 80s Nissan spent millions on the Super Hicas and it should not be compared to the Honda 4 wheel steer which was by far inferior.Nissan liked it so much that they updated in the 90s to electric Super Hicas rather than delete it. In years to come when there are not many left people will want there 300zx's to be as close as original as possible with all the correct fittings. Plus imo the 300zx feels very planted on high speed road corners with Super Hicas. But like I said its my opinion and we are all different and I respect thatYou will either love it our hate it but if its working well then I say keep it.

rover spend millions on the sd1 developing it aston spend millions on the logonder so spending millions doesn't always mean its a good thing. and as you say 80s and 90s its 2013 if the idea is so good when all super cars ferrai lambos Porsche bmw would all be using them but there not it would be a standed thing on super cars buts its not. I under stand what you are saying about keeping the oem parts on a rare car and that's great I get that 100% but but hicas is just a novelty since getting rid the car feels so much safer and now doesn't feel like you have 2 dwarfs in you boot playing with your rear end

:gunsmilie:yes its only chit chat isn't it lol

FYI - Porsche are now using a very similar system to Nissan's HICAS on their new 911 GT3:

The relevant bit reads:

"For the first time, Porsche is employing active rear wheel steering to achieve even higher steering precision and improved lateral dynamics. Depending

on the speed, the rear wheels steer in the same or opposite direction of the front wheels, improving stability and agility."

Just because something isn't fitted to every car in the industry, doesn't mean it's a bad idea. I get you don't like it, but why keep banging on about it?

The use of punctuation, sentences, capitals letters, and grammar have all caught on over the years, yet you still avoid using them ;) Doesn't make them a bad idea though.

I've got to ask the question Dan, but are you sure yours was working correctly? I like mine, but then again I don't think I've driven it without it so I don't know what to compare it too.

yes worked fine did test it just don't like it

not one is banging on about atall we was taking about .

Anyway back on-thread, as mentioned already if you're thinking about breaking the modifying guns out then make sure yourself or a garage you trust gives the car a good check-over mechanically first. If you want big power then there are people on here who can advise (and carry out the work), and it would be cheaper to do in one go, whereas conversely there are people like myself who have had the car modified gradually over the course of years and perhaps not followed a particular upgrade path.

Going a bit off topic lads, try to keep to the OP's original questions. I'm sure he can make up his own mind if he want's HICAS or not :)

EDIT. Well was before EvoluZion3 brought it back while I was typing..lol
