Sodium bicarbonate is baking soda, it has other uses as well in terms of water chemistry re alkaline management. Don't think that's what's on the road it would fizz when it rained. Referring back to the experiment at school using bicarb and vinegar to make a volcano, rain water has a ph of roughly 6.4 so would create a simular reaction. I suspect what you mean is NaCl sodium chloride ie salt.

Yup - that's what I was getting at.......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Or Sodium Chloride......

I have actually thought about buying winter tyres for the DD this year myself - but gave up when hardly anywhere had the right size for the rear. I don't se why, 245/35/18 is not an uncommon size...???

I've put winter tyres on my mx5 which is my daily driver. Does make a real difference. But, obviously, they were much cheaper and a more common size than tyres for a zed.

I have heard they make a difference; although they would not be for my Z - rather for my SLK. So far the only 245/35/18 winter tyres I can find are Pirelli Sottozeros at £300 each!!! There are plenty of 225/40/18s available for the front though. No good on a powerful RWD car.....

When it snowed last year, I went out to play in the mx5. No probs with hills and speed bumps. Dave took his BMW up and down the steepest road in Manchester with no probs. couldn't even get over a speed bump in his normal tyres. Would def recommend winter tyres if you can source them

Tbh even having a good quality tyre with a decentvtreadcdepth makes a huge difference, the amount of people you really struggling on budgets, then another person cruises out the very same junction. Noticed that last winter in the traffic.
