Finally, I've bought a tablet - why didn't I do it sooner!?

Kinda needed something to replace my laptop. I break laptops for a pastime and my last one lasted one month in my care from new. Broken screen and damaged hdd after I got, what I now consider as 'Windows 8 rage'. Then my previous company bought me a Windows phone, which I quickly came to detest!

Microsoft have messed about with Windows too much now and have turned their current operating systems into the most annoying systems on the market and after my experiences with annoying screen flipping, no start button and how irritating the menus are on their phones, I vowed NEVER to purchase another piece of electronics with a Windows based operating system on, ever again!

My current Samsung phone uses the Android operating system and I am a big fan of it, especially with all the support and applications you can get via Playstore. My phone just isn't big enough and I wanted a basic media centre that bridged that gap between smartphone and laptop, especially as I do so much travelling; having a laptop on a plane is a pain and the small notebooks are overpriced for what they are, so I went for a Nook! Has all I need and is a complete and utter bargain! Just finished setting up all my apps and this is my first use of it on here! I have a work's laptop for everything else anyway.

Why didn't I buy one sooner!?

ive had an ipad since they first came out and would never go back to a laptop tablets are so much easier ..

I spend a lot of time on my Samsung Note. So good to have something that is a decent size screen and easily transportable.

I do get a bit miffed at the touch screen typing after a while, but have downloaded a few different keyboards and getting better.

Don't start the android vs apple arguement !

I agree with you Si though, Windows have lost it with with Windows 8, even with the upgrade to 8.1.

Android though is the dogs the B******s Google Play store so easy and a vast range of software. I've got an i7 Desktop PC with Windows 8.1 on it, an i7 laptop with Windows 8.1, a Tablet with Androiud and S4 with thhe latest Android on it and 4G to boot

Got used to 8.1 and it's improvement over 8 but I thing android with google docs is making good headway

Just picked up a pair of Nexus 7's for the kids for xmas, and after having a sneaky play with them before they get wrapped up Im tempted to get one myself.

I bought myself a cheap, basic tablet for one single purpose.... Working on my zed. I can sit it there by the engine bay with a step by step guide on how to do whatever I'm currently doing. Best garage tool I've bought in ages!

I can't make up my mind what would be best, a Tablet, or a Phablet ofr a tablet/ notebook!

I want to use it for the internet, emails, Movies and TV streaming but also for work to access docs and edit info for customer sign off at site. I have been to the Windows/Nokia partnership launch and they kindly gave us a free windows phone, but using a genuine windows PC tablet and a windows phone with office on will allow a constant update across the platforms of any changes, emails etc that go on, this includes desktop. Of course to do this your best using something like office 365 which utilises the Skydrive cloud store solution.

But then I hear Sky for instance doesn't support Sky Go on the windows platform and perhaps the apps store is limited but then I'm not big on apps!, I guess the questions for me is should a tablet be used as a media device or is there a good office applications that would be compatible with Windows that would open up the choices on the android platform.

Pehaps I should just buy a Hudl or Nexus and be done with it, however it would be great to hear more experiences of different models to guage the real world benefits.

Theres a good Office Compatible software package called OfficeSuitepro that runs on Android and it's MS compatible plus you can sysc emails from an Android device with any other platform onto your Android device

Nexus 7, 2013 edition is superb by all accounts, not a single negative review for it!

I was considering a tablet myself earlier this year.... Julia has just got into using a PC and I wanted something simple that she could play about with, but compact enough to take on holiday etc.....

.....But in the end, I decided on a net-book; purely for its size, yet still benefitting from a "proper" keyboard. I see just how little one pays for a tablet now - but 6 months ago £170 seemed quite a bargain for the net-book....

Those little tablets do still look good though....:shifty:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
