Loads of advice needed putting zed off road for well deserved new parts etc.

Ok Hi Guys new to forum and have fairly limited mechanical knowledge but willing to take a good stab at it. I didn't get to use my car use the car all this year due to ill health been ill for many years so never not ever done much practical mechanics. put her for mot and am told sills need done. I bought the car 3 years ago now and knew when I bought it there would come the point that it would start to need some serious money spending and work done I now believe that time has arrived the car has had lots of owners since import and not been maintained properly needs love and money. I have decided to put the car off the road for as long as it takes as I would like to replace as much as possible and be left with an as good as new car when finished. My friend recently bought a place with a decent garage and wont be using it so its mine I will be moving the car there hopefully within the next 2,3 weeks and would like to start work after then, I also have very little tools but can borrow some and am willing to buy as I go. I have a plan in my head and I was going to start by removing everything from back end car wishbones control arms shocks etc. I have already bought some bits for car that I know she needs. any help advice be great I,m going in blind ish :), These questions may seem a bit early but I want to try sort out some tools befor I move car so that once I get her in the garage can start if its not too cold lol.

questions.

1. first off where are the safe best place to position axel stands to lift whole car off ground?.. also is the car ok just sitting on stands for a long period of time or would I be best lifting one end at a time?..

2. what are essential tools for removal of wishbones etc from back of car?.. or just essential tools that would be good for me to start off with to do many tasks?.. and that wont break the bank..

3.what would be best for re painting wishbones suspension arms etc I was going to go for hammerite and then clear laquer over but would this be hard wearing enough or am I best going for powder coating, and would I be better buying a kit and compressor or getting somewhere to do it.

4. What are essential items to replace and what should I be paying close attention to checking condition of etc?..

Axle stands i have just had my car off the ground for a few weeks, and i positioned them under the suspension. once the car is off the ground you will see a round plate at the front (both sides) that is pretty much connected to the chassis. i used this at the front, and there is a similar set on the rear. although if you taking off the rear suspension for work this may not work for you. there is a knuckle that i have used in the past but again not sure how this will help you if your wanting to take off the rear suspension. once the car is up in the air have a good look under it and find a solid part to put the axle stands. bear in mind that it might be on them for a while. so if your stands are the v type then i would look at using a plank of wood across the 2 stands.

avoid the seals (where you would use the normal jack and i dont thing this is a good idea for a long period of time.

Ok my advice is don't strip to much off straight away as once it's all off and after a while if not much progress is happening you can lose faith in the whole thing as it doesn't look like a car no more with everything stripped if you get what I mean,

Ok jacking front end use the front subframe

Rear either diff or there's 2 jacking points just inside of the sill at the rear it's a little hump in the floor with a slit in the middle

Tools you don't need a great deal to strip a car essentials are:

10mm socket and spanner

12mm socket and spanner

14mm socket and spanner

17mm socket and spanner

19mm socket and spanner

Philips screwdriver

Hammer

Breaker bar

Any other tools a bonus

This would be a good starting point. A lot of stuff for your money.

The only slight downside is it contains SAE sizes which you dont need on a Nissan.

But buying just the metric stuff in several sets would soon add up to this kind of money.

You then need to add a Pliers set and a mixed screwdriver set.

And a big Hammer.
