You may be able to do it without taking the glovebox out of the dash, you need access to the screws on the inner lid and the bottom hinge screws, it comes apart in two halves, so you have the outer visible glovebox and the inner skin, behind the skin you can then remove the lock.

Easier to do than explain lol

Image from a LHD but should give you an indication of what to remove to get to the glovebox if you need to remove it

I think you take the split pin out of the white plastic assembly and it lifts off, im pretty sure the it all just lifted off when i recovered mine years ago.

I looked at that and the pin has been crimped so that it doesn't fall out... I'll have to squeeze it and just hope it's reusable.

cheers..

OK, on closer inspection (and unfortunately removal of the pin... Do'h) I worked out that it's of no help in removing the lock from the panel.

however in doing so it made it easier to see how to do it...

there is a little hole hear the base and if you put a thin screwdriver in there you can press on the lock tumbler that holds the barrel in place.

once pressed in the barrel can be pulled / pushed / pried out (i assume that the key should also do this but can't confirm yet.
