So today I made the long trip south to Wokingham to meet Rob.aka Boomin 33.

I went to buy something from him not related to his 2+2.

He also needed a starter to get his car running.

Rob tempted me down with a good deal so I could "help" him get the car fired up.

So we dragged it outside . Jacked it up . swapped the starter. fiddled with a bit of a loose wire...

AND.............................

It fired up within 15 secs!!!!!

I was next to the engine when it did . No rattles or knocks. Not even a tappy lifter. Settled down remarkably quickly given that it hasnt run in two years.

At the rear only steam from the exhaust as you would expect on a cold morning. No sign of any smoke. Sounded very sweet .

Rob drove it forward a few yards and then reversed back on the drive. no sticking clutch or brakes.

Here are a couple of pics............................

As this is my thread and not on the for sale thread I can say what I saw and thought...................

Unused and unloved for two years it needs a wash an brush up for sure. There are/will be the odd detail needin "tidying"

Try and see past that and read the spec sheet Rob has posted up.

This car is a quality build using high quality parts.

I didnt make a full examination as Im not buying but....................

Cobra Imola Carbon fibre seats.

Virtually "Nascar" grade cage.

A custom Stainless exhaust thet has clearly NOT been made at Longlife/Kwik zorst or any other cheap franchise. Work of art springs to mind

Motec management .

The Farndon billet crank would set you back over £2k alone if you wanted one and you would have to wait 3-6 months for it

Its a UK car but is one of the cleanest underside I have seen..

I wasnt a fan of the front end... but it does suit the car and is nicely done.

Quality CF bonnet and rear wing which WILL produce downforce on track.

Dunno what side mount intercoolers are on it but the look Big and as new

I could go on... but I wont. Im not advertizing it and Im not on commission. But somebody needs to get this. Tidy it up and use/enjoy. It will hold its head up high at any track day you care to take it to.

In 5 years time this will be a £10K car IMO

Thanks for coming down Pete and letting me talk you into helping me out for a couple hours! much appreciated.

my take on it... pulled it out of the garage for the first time in 2.5 years today. bit dusty.. but boy did it sound sweet when it fired. spent a good 2 hours messing around with it as there was an issue with the starting button in the cabin. Ends up the starter motor I changed out was probably 100% fine. Doh.

The starting button is not though and we needed to wire a direct jump for the starter to the battery. I figure an hour of tracing the starter button wire will reveal the issue and a quick remedy.

But alas the positive message !

All I can say is... definitely fell in love with it again - instantly. what an amazing smooth sounding engine this car has. idles with an awesome sound and when i got the gas on the surge/sound put a smile on those of us standing around it today. Just like a parent big-ups their own children, I truly felt that I've got quite a special 300zx here.

SlickPete seemed to know a lot about the original engineering shop that did the build and perhaps even the guy who built it. More than a couple things he said about the Engineering, components on this car and also the Condition of a Mk1 UK Car planted seeds of doubt as to why I'm selling! Cheers Mate.

Me too.....

.....But you're dead right Pete; this car needs to be bought ASAP!!!

I have owned and driven a 2+2 targa car for a short while . Its not an experience I could repeat. Ever.

i simply didnt like it. We dont need to get in to a debate about it. It was that simple for me. Its not a model I would ever want to own and drive again. End of.

Otherwise I would have taken the trailer and £6K on Saturday. Once it was runnoig I would have loaded it .
