Hi mate,

I only use hids on dipped beam, the kit u need is h3 which is the bulb type.

I have a cheap ebay set and have been great and are a couple yrs old and still going strong.

I think the main thing to worry about is what k they are and I have 6000k which is close to natraul light, im sure the differance is either end of the scale will go to red/orange or to blue at the other end.

They make a great improvement on a zed, and look good too.

Yup - as above.... H3 kit for the dipped beam. And go no higher than 6000k (my preference is 4300-5000k as it's more like OEM Merc/BMW lighting)....

It's not worth upgrading your full beams; with HIDs in the dipped, you'll not need full beam that much. Not to mention the that flashing full beam could have an effect on the bulb life.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I see thanks guys so I could use hid on dipped and maybe use a uprated buld for the main beem want to get rid of the yellow looking lighs

Exactly - although with regular halogen bulbs they will still be a bit yellow-ish even if you buy so-called ice white ones. However I think you can get LED bulbs in H1 fitment for the main beam; but I doubt they're legal...

does no one do a bulb that will match the hids for colour

I saw this type a couple of weeks ago and these will match the 5000k colour but how bright are they ?

what bulbs are you using in your front fogs and side lights look good in your pic

That's an old pic, which were something like these H3's but they didn't give off enough light although looked like they did !!

I have an hid kit in my front fogs which are amazing, the side lights are T10 5 smd ones, these have also been changed but I still have smd type in there - switchback white/yellow if you must know !!

I did a fair bit of looking into HIDs over the past few weeks.

I ordered this kit from eBay:

Will be fitting it when I get off the boat next week. I know a few people on here have this exact kit, and say it was easy to fit and works well.

I'll also be doing the diode mod, and have ordered the parts for that.

As said above, don't go above 6000k, as then you are getting more blue/violet colours, and they look shit, throw out feck all light, and are pretty damned illegal.

4300k is about OEM white colour, and 5000k is what most of the modern German wagens have.

Search for NIGHTBREAKER bulbs. May be of use to you mate.

They are excellent halogen bulbs indeed - probably the best for actual light quality in fact!! I have them in main beams and Julia has the H4 versions in her Rav; they light up the road better than most others, but the light cast is still fairly yellow when matched with the HIDs...

trying to avoid the yellow really
