Surprisingly this didn't take as long as I thought, but I've managed to get it ready within the weekend. So here's the progress photo's

 

This is how it looked when I picked it up from Lee on Saturday. It appeared as if at some point a silencer had been welded into the tip, so my mission was to remove the weld and try and make it look as acceptable as possible.

 

 

 

 

My first attempt Saturday was to try and hacksaw it off, but it was taking the piss out of me

....found their address which is in Irvine (Orange County). I know this city quite well and have a few friends there. I'd imagine that part will have to be ordered from Japan, but shipping from the US to the UK is a killer. If you can wait, I'll fetch them when I'm in Los Angeles over Christmas/New Year.

 

Yeah I figured they'd be coming from Japan, the email address I've been talking to ends with .jp and the default setting on the site for postage is to CA (assuming California) and the shipping cost for that is 'EMS AIR $49.50' and if UK is selected then its 'EMS AIR $53.67' so for the sake of $4 between 3 of us it maybe pointless.

 

However I will definitely email them and ask if you could just pop into the shop and pick them up therefor not require shipping and see what they say.

 

Pity you couldn't of fitted a Stillen lip in your hand luggage, could of saved me £100 in shipping. :lol:

Do we know of anyone else with a VeilSide exhaust that may be interested??? I know they're not the most common of kits but there's obviously a few kicking about.

Haha I'll have to get used to all this Yankee slang. If they do get shipped to your mate though, it's still only saving us $4.

(don't get me wrong though its a beautiful gesture Si to go out of your way for us all)

 

Turns out I've worked out the price wrong though, it's actually £19.95 for the pair to the UK, providing there's 8 bought (4 for myself and 2 for Bird, and 2 for Roobarb) Thought that seemed a little too good to be true.

Hi Steven,

 

The items will be shipped from our warehouse in Japan.

All US customers also gets shipment from our same warehouse in Japan.

So, you will not save any shipping cost by collecting from US.

Besides, you can not collect from our US warehouse.

They do not accept pick up.

 

I am sure that you are aware of this, but the Veilside is the Japanese

company, their main headquarter based in Japan.

Their brand became famous, due to the movies, and some of their

aeroparts require 6 months or more for delivery.

It its one of the most busiest manufacturer of all in Japan.

(large number of orders, but still small facility to produce, resulting

in long delivery time.)

 

Are you definitely be sure about the quantity of 8?

Veilside is one of the busiest people out there, so they get fed up of

receiving multiple inquiries and changes in order. Some times, they

intentionally delays the answer, or refuses to provide the answers.

So, if we are going to make any modifications to the quantity, it has to

be done at once.(and no more changes)

This is very important for us to keep a good business relationships with

Veilside.

So guessing my indecisiveness maybe grinding on them a little.

 

So I need to finalise this order. So is there anybody else we can think of who would want any of these? As it stands it's a little less than £10 per emblem, the more we get i'm assuming the cheeper they will be.

 

I told them i'd finalise the order tonight. but now I come to think of it i'm not going to be able to get to an engraver's to check their price until the weekend. But on the otherhand £10 isn't alot, and these are genuine VeilSide...

I've found a couple of local engravers. I've emailed them with the measurements and birds picture. hopefully they'll get back to me today.

Yeah I agree, but I thought I'd give them a chance. I've emailed a couple, had a reply back from one, he was only asking the material, even though I'd stated stainless. But I'll see what happens...

OK, so I got a reply back from both engraver's, one can't get hold of stainless. And the other can't beat the price of £10 each. So I'll go ahead with the order from Japan. So basically are you still interested in a pair of these roobarb for £20.

 

Lee I'll cover the cost of yours as a deal sweetener for the exhaust.

Update on this, confirmed the order for eight last night, and woke to find this reply this morning....

 

Hi no need to change the quantity on your basket.

I will personally change the quantity to eight.

Will check with the Veilside to see if they can secure 8 pieces, and

double-check the shipping cost.

It will take some time, but we will try to react as soon as possible.

Regarding the payment, the Paypal will be the best way.

But one thing you must be very careful, is that you will have to go into

your Paypal account first.

And then check your registered shipping address.

If not registered, please make sure that you input, exactly the same

shipping address that you've provided to us.

Or to tell us that your new shipping address, that is already registered

on Paypal.

 

Reason for this is that Paypal will reject your payment, if shipping

address differs at the time of verification process.

Paypal checks your registered address, versus the address we submit, to

verify that the transaction is safe. This is their part of Buyer

Protection program process.

 

Once all is well on the registered shipping address, THEN you can

finally make the payment using the URL or invoice that we provide to you.

 

I know it sounds bit complicated at first, but once you've done it

correctly, the next time will be a piece of cake.

Ok the exhaust is on now, Was a **** of a job, it came on then off and on and off so many times. It was hanging too low on the bumper, it's actually cracked the bumper a little (it was already damaged from the last one) so had to bend the hangers a bit to try and make it sit higher, even had to cut a little bit of the bumper out to get it in. but it's on. Doesn't stick out as far as I thought though, so nothing of the back box can be seen so it was a waste polishing it all up.

 

It does sound beautiful though, a bit louder than I expected, could maybe do with some cat's or something fitted. can feel the resonance through the car.

 

i'll post up some more photo's and a video or two at a later date.

Yeah that's what I thought :( but apart from that they fit to the top line of the bumper beautifully. I'll have to see what I can do when the decals turn up.

I'm going to give it a good drive out tomorrow to see what it's really like. I can't wait. the weather looks like it's going to be nice enough to get the roof off. Hell I may even give it it's first wash since I smashed the bumper.

 

If it is a little too loud then I may see about fitting some thing in the front pipes. problem been they're all one piece...

Cheers Lee, it wasn't as simple as I was expecting. but it's on and it's solid, just a pity the left one is ever so slightly too far to the left.

Took it for a spirited drive this morning. and it does sound beautiful, it does have a lovely burble, top end it sounds sublime, and it gives the most subtlest of pop's after I let off the throttle. The only cabin intrusion is between 2 and 3 grand, so second gear when your slowly moving along in traffic it does vibrate a bit. I'm going to replace some missing interior screws this afternoon and I'm hoping that'll make all the difference. I'll try and get a video up. but I don't think my phone mic will do it justice.
