Should I Be Worried

I have just fitted a HID kit, when I turn the lights on the engine rpm drops a fair bit, I put a multi meter across the battery terminals before the lights switched on and got 13.8 volts, with the lights turned on the voltage dropped down to 12.2 volts, this is without anything else turned on, no air con, stereo or any other lights.

Cheers for any help.

Although HIDs pull quite a lot of power at startup (~10amps for a modern ballast), it quickly settles down (around 1 second) to below the power used for halogen lamps during normal operation.

Not at all.....

....HIDs do "arc" at start-up; the light then immediately dips and gradually gets brighter in the next few seconds......

But ultimately HIDs draw fewer watts than conventional halogen lights; don't worry mate - perfectly normal!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
