Leon?

I sourced and maintain an Ibiza TDi 130 Sport for someone and typical Seat build quality is nasty.

I've got a 51 plate Cupra, and it's on ebay

On paper it ticks all the right boxes, practical ect.....

But in reality bit of a nightmare mate

So I'm getting shut of it and have bought another different nightmare lol

To be honest the last owner was a bit of a bell, all air filters and dump valves and no maintence lol.

When I got the car it had a bent wheel which turned out to be a hub, but I got a 2nd hand hub, new wishbone and ball joint and that was sorted. Got an o2 sensor cos someone had cut all the wires (probally to get a ring end spanner on the o2 when decatting) then bodged it up.

Temp gauge not reading right, sorted out, oil pickup pipe taken out and cleaned and sump re sealed, with new sensors pressure and level. jubalee clips missing from water system, letting air in. Vac pipes split, Only 2 speakers working due to bad wiring, Secondary air pump hanging off and throwing error codes up. But to top it all off ABS sensor replaced due to showing on a diagnostics and when I went to replace the warning bulbs in the clocks I found that when I stripped it down I couldnt get at the bulbs without taking the needles off so someone has put black velvet fluff in the holes where the bulbs go, yes that is athe abs and traction control warning lights. All this has been sorted now and the only reason that I havent got rid sooner is that the DVLA took 3 months to get it registered in my name and I needed to tax it too sell.

And Finally this is what happens when you put a fuse back in to your dash clocks to get the clock and trip computer to work -

and to think that the immobiliser is part of the clocks lol :scared:

I got it for cheap enough and it has the AQU? engine in shame its had a bit of a rough time Its ok I suppose and It does drive nice (until next time)

Have a look at seat cupra net and you wont see what spolier should I get ect, youll see my car is crap cos, and help me posts lol

I should be sorting the zed out instead of messing with 5hit cars all the time.

they are nice cars when working properly.

i had my cupra for sale for ages on here and everywhere else and no interest at all, even with a stupidly low asking price.

ended up giving it to my mother in law to use as her alfa romeo has issues at the moment.

I currently have a 54 plate Seat Leon FR (150 bhp tdi) and it's been constant maintenance since I got it in January even with FSH. Drives me f*cking nuts and the gear linkage or gearbox is now on it's way out. I want shot of it asap. Shame as it's a nice car to drive, give me 52 mpg on a run between Norfolk and Somerset sitting between 80-90 but i'd have the engine back in the Zed if it wasn't for that thing.

Update, seat for mot.............needs 3 tyres some bushes need doing, headlamp beam height, bulb and emissions (decatted). not worth getting through mot as it stinks car through with oil when heaters are put on and gives you a bad head ache, also its really badly condensated now its winter and I suspect 3 seals have gone, 2 doors and scuttlepanels. Anyway I got shut of it to a pole last night and he buys german cars here only. He lives here and takes 6 back to poland each week. The seat Leon Shed was apparently worth 4K in parts:pinch:

I'm getting a 12 month old Leon FR in a few weeks. I have had a Leon before and I rate them. Newer Leons have build quality comparable with VW.

I really like the Cupra R aswell. Other than zeds my main car love from the VAG stable and would rate the Cupra R pretty highly. Think you have to remember that most are 10+ years old and many have been abused for a lot of there lifes! Having said that I would say that a proper Cupra R as opposed to a normal ( cheaper Cupra ) would be a much better car. Will have been looked after a lot better as they are more desirable and cost more to buy!!

Guy I work with as a newer K1 Leon and has done a few bits and bobs, runs just shy of 370hp and it is a proper weapon while retaining good driveability!

What MK did you have before? Mines a MK1 and it's just crap in terms of build quality. Boot and nearly every door seal is leaking, intercooler pipes won't seal properly onto the intercooler and loads of other niggles. Supposed to be the same platform as the MK4 Golf but i've never heard of anyone with one have these problems.

Door seals are common on all the mk4 golf based cars ( Leon, Octavia and A3 ) pretty simple fix though. Most common things on these cars are Seals, Axle bushes, window regulators, MAF's, Oil Level Sensors. few others aswell but these are the main ones.

I just had the joy of dismantling the rear door to get get access to the door control module that failed and locked the door shut just in time for the MOT lol, in my hast to get it done so I could leave for work across the country I didn't take any pictures of how it went together and can't find a picture of the window regulator layout for the back lol, fun times ahead

Same MK. This is my second MK2 and it's a facelift also. The first one I had was just a 1.9 Sport not long after they were first launched. Got rid of it a long time ago, but I didn't have a SINGLE problem with it. The MK2s are ultra reliable and very well made. I prefer them to the Golf, especially the interior and general styling. The FR is fantastic and the one I have is the 170bhp and doesn't hang about. Well sorted chassis, especially with the optional 18s that mine has and simply fantastic seats.

This is exactly the same as mine, same colour, wheels and everything. Only got it today and I'm over the moon with it, such a lot of fun, but seems to cruise well too. Smooth, responsive and pokey engine, but you can really throw it about and it takes quite a bit to unsettle it.
