Is the Rad expansion bottle meant to have this hole at the top??

So when its full it will trickle out down to the road.??

Featured Replies

Yes, expansion bottle not pressurised and needs an overflow if fills.

Check your rad cap if it's filling too much, what are the water temps doing?

Yep what I think was the problem was the coolant was coming oyut of the hole and being blown back on to the brakes!!!!!

Paul also thought the bottle was split.??

There might be an issue with the rad cap.??

Or maybe something more sinister .??

I will speak to Ben at Eurospec about it.

We just need it to last one more event!! LOL!!

Temps early in the day were OK. Sitting waiting to go back out on final session it did get very hot stationary but cooled down on the move.

Mine was doing this turned out I had a little bit of crap caught in the cap so it wasn't seating properly.

All under way now guys .

Ben is going to replace the rad cap.

Im sending a replacement bottle to him which he will fit.

Oveflow from bottle is being directed away from brakes via an additional tube.

Ben will check car at workshop before Bob collects.

Paul n me will monitor the situation carefully at Brands.

And if anyone removes a rad cap or touches the car without my say so they will be castrated instantly:scared:

Have you thought about relocating it up next to the bettary? Use something plastic and modern as a header tank, that way the fluid check is visual, it would also improve the airflow over the intercooler and brakes due to the declutter.

We will look at the whole thing at the end of the season. You have made a very good suggestion.

Meanwhile we will just do a quick/cheap fix. It only needs to be good for 4 x 15 min sessions

Interesting. Do you have any pics?

Washer bottles easy just use the provision for where the Aiv used to be.

so fitt the washer bottle were the aiv was how would you fill it

Drill a hole in the inner wing, then use the Aiv/egr mounting bracket to mount the full tube. You would have to play around really. Doubt the stock one would work.

o i see i was thinking you had already done this, it deffo need moving some were else thats for sure am uprating my intercoolers and bumper so seems a good idea to get the bottles out the way for better flow

Temps rising could be down to the viscous failing,Jaffas car eats them so ive locked his up but im looking to get some solid hubs made up maybe Bob would like one Pete ?
