I have that new bush to go in, I have gt85'd and wire brushed the hell out of the end of the arm, finally got the nut off and stuff but can not move the arm off the bush.

I exposed the inboard end of the arm but don't want to dismantle things I don't need to. Does it just need a bloody good pull. Then there is the matter of getting the bush out of the hub.

All advice greatly appreciated.

I did try this on my first attamept, but the flange is faily weak and it distorted under the load.

I may have had it out of square mind.

Would recommend the shrink fit personally. If you get the temperatures correct, it just pops in.

I think my gear puller may still have some life left in it. You are welcome to borrow it if you want.

Just let me know and I will post it to you.

I used a large socket that covered the flange and applied equal pressure all round, didn't have any trouble with it tbh.

Day two over perhaps tomorrow I'll get it done. 10 till 5.25 only stopping to motorbike in the rain for parts. Nearly taken the whole hub off now to get it to a garage to do on a bench. Just the handbrake to dismantle and a very very stubborn bottom bolt.

I have dug myself a big hole here. Thanks so much for the advice I worry that I'm just rubbish at this.

Me and my mechanic mate struggles with one of these for ages, it was ok getting the arm out, it was just getting it out. in the end we gave up, I paid a local garage £40 to fit it. Turns out though a year later the same joint's got a slight bit of play in it again :cursing:

Well I went to 3 garages today and they charge 45 quid or so an hour and are expecting it to take minimum of 2 hours a side to do in situ on the car, longer to remove the hub and do it.

However found one garage that were quite happy to stick the hub on a bench and push one out and a new one in. So hub to come off tomorrow. I'm getting there, learning a lot and buying big sockets and hub pullers and all sorts.

Done, got the hub off and took it to a garage to ado with a press.

I know i made a song and dance about it but a lot of bolts were seized rusted rounded etc.

Thank you all for your support and you will be happy to know the steering feels almost firmer and is more responsive now. A bit more difference than my strut brace made. Quite suprising.
