After finishing replacing my stereo and CD player, I thought I would go for a quick spin.

After a couple of miles I noticed that my temperature was slightly up! (the cars that is, not mine. lol)

so headed home. When I pulled up onto the drive I was horrified to find steam billowing out from under the bonnet.

It was coming from the drivers side of the engine at the back and was coming up from below the brake fluid reservoir.

Any ideas as for the likely cause??

Pop to machine mart and get yourself the pack of 3 12" needle nose pliers. There's so useful for this kind of thing. Check what it connects to and if possible replace the whole section...if it split once...see what I'm saying?

I hear what you are saying there z32bolt.

I cut so much off to remove the bl**dy clip, I will need a new pipe!

Can anyone help me with a replacement so as I can get it fitted before the week-end please?

I would prefer to go with an OEM pipe as opposed to using standard water hose due to the confined space.

Taking note of earlier advice, I could do with a replacement for the second pipe in the picture as well.

At least then I can tick them both off the to do list while I have the access.

No immediate stock, but could order for you - Mike at MJP (Eastern Auto).

I had to do that job on mine the day after I driven at the Holliday cottage. Guttedso went out bought pliers screwdriver set and some really flexible fuel pipe.

It was great stuff and about £10 for a meter so did the other whilst I was there

7 years on its still spot on :)

Prices on the OEM turbo water feed hoses, RH:

£11.03 + VAT - available from Euro stock, about one week.

£3.71 + VAT - ex-Japan, 3+ weeks.

haha burst pipe is the reason i got my 300 so cheap, pipe going to the passenger side turbo was full of holes and took me around 4 hours to change. Blasted zed curse!!!!!

Eureka! Finally fitted new hoses ( cheers mr F ) and re assembled everything.

Better still, looks like we still may have a couple of dry days still to come!

Bring it on!!

Good news mate :thumbup1:

Cheers!

The more I do on the zed, the more confident I feel about tackling bigger jobs.

Who knows what's next! lol

Very true Steams.

Things seem a little less daunting at the moment.

Who knows what I may get up to over the winter. lol

It's how I learned on mine mate. Couldn't change the oil in a car before. Bought my zed and decided to do a wheeler dealer type job on it, without the selling at the end part. Turned into more of a Zed is Born..lol I've practically rebuilt 90% of mine including a manual conversion, engine swap and hundreds of little jobs as well. The only thing I got professionally done was the paint job. I did all that with just a copy of the service manual and this forum. The only job I wouldn't tackle on my own is a gearbox rebuild. Anything else, I'll do myself :thumbup1:

EDIT: Forgot to say that I also rebuilt and refurb-ed the whole rear sub, Rebuilt all the brake calipers and replaced the brake lines. I've learn't to do so many things on the car and it's been really enjoyable. The best bit is being able to say; 'I did that'..

Nice one! That's where I hope to be with mine soon. Even contemplating attempting a DIY re spray.

As for the gearbox, mine bulks in most gears! Pain in the a@se!!

Would love to tackle it myself.

Was going to do the paint myself and I did do a fair bit of bodywork, including removing the stone chip. I just couldn't get the results I was after so got it done by a bodyshop in the end.

Gearbox's run on magic mate and need little syncro elves to fix them... ...or something like that..

I will probably end up the same way with regards to the re spray mate!

As for the gear box? There is a part of me that says have a go!

It will probably end in tears mind.

I would just like to have a smooth and quick box for hose posey moments, instead of making myself look a tw@t. lol

Why not get yourself a knackered one, strip it down and see how it all goes together? Then you'll get a good idea if it's worth attempting. :)

Is yours just hard to get in gear and a bit crunchy? If it is then it's probably the syncro's.

Have you ever considered a career on Blue Peter....???.......lol

I do think someone should do youtube video's for a 'How to" section on things like water pipe delete, Aiv, EGR..... You could do how to fit things and repair guides...... Would make a nice reference section on here.....

You have Groover and Phutumsch who are the LED and lighting advisors.....lol

Mondo..... who advises on interior trim......

Mark Derby who is the Audio build advisor......

Loads of people including JeffTT for engine work.....

Boldy and Manta V8 who are the bodywork and paint knowledge....

Redwine300 and Ruishy1 for welding and fabrication advice.....

And the list goes on.......

The Forum could build up a lovely reference library and advice section...........?????

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Good idea Steams. That way I will be able to suss out any special tools I may want, er may need.

As for my gearbox, It's a bit of both really, mainly stubourn to go into gear but sometimes with a slight crunch.
