Hey ya'll,

So been round pulling plugs to check if the revs drop etc and cylinder 4 doesn't seem to drop.

 

What do I need to go round checking?

I put the timing light pick up on that cylinder and its flashing.

 

Spark plug?

Looks like a whole bank is diddled, 9 bar is about 120 psi. That's too low, the other bank seems fine. Probably cooked the head when it's lost coolant or trapped an air pocket :(

Rebuild or replace?

9 bar is pretty much 130 psi.

 

Ill have to try and find out How expensive would the rebuild be. Wouldn't the numbers come up though if the engine was hot

Sorry, I have another question. If the timing is a tooth out (jeffTT believe it might be), could that cause a bank to show different to the other? It still hits 15° but CAS is across to the right

I wouldn't have thought so mate, you'd be smacking valves into pistons if it was that far out

Gutted for you matey if it is rebuild time.... :(

 

If you do rebuild, then get it done by Jimmer, top bloke, top rebuild, coupled with a good price.

it might explain the low compression......but not the antifreeze which is clearly in that cylinder :no:

You will need to listen to all of your injectors with your screwdriver as you may think its clicking away but you may just be hearing the others along the rail. Check all six are pulsing just as loud. I have just gone through this same problem, it was a failed injector and faulty O2, see my thread :)

Half the engine is down on compression and it's pushing coolant out a plug hole.

Have a chat with jimmer mate. He knows what he is doing, you will have something strong an reliable and then it's done. Even if its just to sort your options out its got to be worth knowing how much it will cost you to do it right.

It's gone down to Phil mate. Strange really as you'd said, the engine seemed really strong. John Dixon had thought that too. So it'll be good to find out what's caused it as I've not seen any overheating or anything.

 

Could be anything I guess.
