Well around a week ago now i lent my dad my 300zx, told him not to crash the damn thing, while his car was off the road with a gear box issue.

So, i fix his gearbox (had no frigging oil in it, a bearing on his diff had managed to slip so was replaced, new clutch, new oil and replaced back onto the car and now working perfectly, last time i do any work on a 307 thats for sure, especially gearbox related lol

Anyway, pulls up out side his while i was putting his car back together, he has only gone and drove the bloody thing into a curb as he didn't realise how low it was, cracking my genuine veilside bumper in two places , ok i was a tad p'eed but then i forgot to warn him, and as he isnt used to driving it, was the risk i took really.

So spent the weekend with a few mates fixing it.

Cracks widened and cut out

Nice chaps at a local body shop, lent us some fiber glass paste, which is awesome stuff and i might just grab a tin. So filled in the cracks and sanded them down

and sanded them down

Then filler to smooth off the rest, followed by more sanding.

Plastic primer and matching paint code later, its not finished yet as there are still some area's that need going back over, but looks a damn sight better than mahoosive cracks all over the front.

certainly could now benefit from a trip to the spray shop though.

thanks matey, was a good 2 days grafting on it, the cracks are sorted but there is still some area's that need looking at properly, so this isnt actually finished yet, but as my mate is now on his holiday for 2 weeks, had to do something as hate driving around with a fillered sanded bumper and no spray on it. so for now, its just undercoat and top coat, but will be going back for another weekend to finish it off properly

Was the 307 a diesel? Do e a few gearbox's on them and yeah what a pain lol

Yeah it was 2.0lt turbo diesel, had that stupid bracket on it that needs removing to get the gearbox off, but also covers one of the bolts that helps keep the gearbox attached to the damn engine, you cant remove the bracket as the studs on the end are too long, ended up just angle grinding through it, it only held the dust plate on to the engine, went back on fine and still able to use the "hook" end as the spacer for the gearbox bolt.

complete pain in the rear that thing is.

good job m8, take it the jeans took a pounding on the knees? lol

thats my mate mark lol, i was taking the photos at that stage, but 3 of us working on the old girl as mark and my mate paul were both hanging from a night on the drink

I thought this was going to have a happy ending... An ending where you removed the bumper (with a pry bar) and threw all the pieces in the skip!! :p

PMSL!

(sorry Ian)

and put what on? a 99spec that would give me approximately 10% cold air coverage to my overly large inter-coolers? lol

Even with the Veilside on they hardly get enough cool air being fed to them. take this picture for instance.

The black marks are where they are getting dirty from being exposed to the air, that's a lot of inter-cooler going to waist, would be even worse with a stock bumper on.

Anyway, i happen to like it, its as close to a abflug type 4 as im getting at the moment.

oh god mate i left my ttslicktop with my dad about 4 yrs ago while i went on holiday but i did get it back in one piece ,dont think i would have been as calm as you though good luck with repair...

i want better intercoolers what make are thay ? same you could open the bumper up more to make the most of them

the best way round that is to make a air channel the same size as the intercooler dropping down to the size of the opening of the intake on the front bar ....as you have worked with fibre glass ian it should be a doddle to do the ram air effect cooling teh chargers would be a benefit

Hahaha, naa matey, as much as id love to say the fiber glassing was me, it seriously wasnt, im so crap with fiber glassing and body repairs as a whole, id of made things worse not better, now sanding, i dont mind that lol

Give me mechanics any day of the week.

to make the air hit the intercoolers more would mean having to cut the ducts around the intercoolers, because at present they almost touch them, id rather not cut up my genuine veilside,

I still really want an abflug type 4 for it instead though and not sure what halfords think 732 paint looks like, i cant see one speckle of metallic flake in the paint i used.

Looks like a good job so far buddy, cant wait to see the finished result

I'm sure on one of the new Peugeots you have to use a special tool to remove the aux belt... never had any issues like that with my old 205's!!
