With the Gulf it was more than obvious why the whole world dived in...OIL!!! Yer 10w-60 Castrol for yer Z etc. was at threat. LMFAO :D

Watching the movie which was based on the incident where they tried to capture the controlling warlord who was stopping the aid and food relief from getting through was tense and at points I thought just kill all the fcukers!

 

Like for instance with Iraq at the moment! I was there in 1991(got the zippo to prove it...ROFL) but what baffled me and alot of me chums at the time...why did they not take Saddam out then?

Do we actually know for sure

A: if ants have a family heirarchy?

B: if the ant woudl be strong enough and inteligent enough to actually carry the semtex and then figure out how to detonate it?

As for the original thread - the movie was very good, not as good as the documntry but very good.

 

 

And as i speak from experience regarding being in some situations that are relevant here. If you have not been at the recieveing end of a gunshot aimed directly at your head because your white, well then you cant really talk of how you would be towards another nation period.:(

Read some PJ O'Rourke mate, that guy knows how to be white and drive through Sowetto without getting a tyre around his neck ;) he was fcuking lucky mind, but he got away with it....

I took European History O'Level(Read not GCSE or CSE) and worked my butt off for it as I really enjoyed it!

well i spent 6 months of my life in riot squads in soweto lol , lets just say id rather go through Soweto than Pekham.

Glen when I went to school it was like this...

 

Primary it was P1(first year), P2(second year), P3(third year), P4(fourth year) then into Juniors...J1(first year) etc. you get my drift.

 

Then at Secondary school(read not college) it was first year, second year, third year etc.

 

I left school mate, not graduated! FFS! :D

I don't think that directly relates to what I said. I got the facts from a program about the Falklands where soldiers ie. generals/seargants/whatever were telling their stories. The story of Goose Green victory was in the papers and being sold in UK BEFORE the troops had even started the battle and ascent of GG ! This meant they had to go before they were properly prepared for it.

 

I'm sure worse went on in the FWW and 2nd WW, but hard to believe it happened in 1982 !! As an ex-soldier/marine? yourself, I find it a little strange that you are so laid back about your life being risked on the whim of someone elses career ! (not having a go here!) Is this a typical view of the average soldier ?
