Hi people. I've only just today joined up on this website, but unfortunately I can't seem to post a message on the Wanted section...so here I am on here.

I am frantically searching for a 300ZX TT Manual - preferably UK car, but will consider top spec grey. I am prepared to pay upto £5,000 for the right car. If anyone can help please let me know.

Thanks folks.

Hi

You will be lucky to get UK TT Manual for that money, if you do it will be ropey or the seller would not know the value of what he is selling!!

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for replying.

I've got to be honest - I decided only the other day that I wanted a 300zx. Before this I was looking at buying an Audi coupe 2.8 quattro or S2. I had put down a deposit on a top 2.8 quattro and was going to collect it on Monday...but the seller called me and asked me to pick up my deposit cuz he had gone and sold it!

This peed me off, and I decided that after much struggling to find the right Audi I should look at something else.

For years and years...and years I've wanted a 300ZX but couldn't afford the insurance (due to age and fact that I've had 2 cars stolen!). But now that I can.............

You say that I can't pick up a UK manual for that money... But, how about a grey import? And if so, is there a big differanace between the 2? Im frantically doing my research on 300's. I'm now extremely desperate for a car (been looking for the last 3 months!), but I don't want to rush into buying a 300 cuz I know the wrong car will cost me thousands in the long-run.

I think I might just go out and buy a pedal bike instead... A lot cheaper, no road tax or petrol, plenty of exercise, plenty of fresh air (I live in London, so on 2nd thoughts!).

Oh well, before I begin writing a novel... Thanks once again Mark.

ok, good clean UK manual TT's = hard to come by it seems (tho I got one :D ) & its not gonna happen for £5k, paid £7k for mine on a L reg

Imports are more abundant it would seem, and usually a little cheaper, although the insurance on these is more and the majority of insurance co's wont even touch them

imports also available without turbos (na) if you so wish, and normally have a few mods on as soon as they come into the country.

DONT EVER ask whether manual boxes are better than autos on this place!!!!

 starts sooooooooooo many arguments lol!!!

I suggest you hang around this place for a while to get a feel for these things, they arnt cheap to run (as you'll find out!) but are a great car.

ps you cant post in all the sections till you subscribe.

Alps if you hang around like a nugget long enough like i did the right car will come along for sale on these forums ,

Every now and again a good Zed comes along for sale just keep ye eyes open :) and watch the forun carefully ,

I got a jap auto TT and love it to bits :) with it been a auto i just point and aim :)

Thanks guys for your advicve.

I really wasn't expecting such a good response.

I've just been out and bought a copy Japanese Performance, which this month has a 300zx buying guide. Hopefully this will help me out a little too.

Also, I think I may have found a 92 TT manual for £4,500. It is a grey import. But, at the moment it sounds to good to be true...and anything that sounds to good to be true - probably is!

Still, no harm in checking it out.

J Perf's guide is not bad at all. You're checking this place out - check out other clubs as well just to be safe.

92TT manual for £4,500 could be good or bad - depending on low/high mileage, good/doggy condition, stock/good mods/bad mods (don't ask me). See the bills and ('cos I am no engineer) get at least an AA/RAC inspection - preferably backed by an opinion for someone from here or other reputable place...

Good luck

(BTW November issue of Evo - the one with the new silver Bentley on the cover - has a much better looking 300ZX in it :) )

Guys, I'm going to have to pick your brains some more.

I've gone and found myself 3 potential manual cars to look at - only problem being that they're all different years and 1 is a grey.

Where do I begin???

Ok, the first one is a UK car. It's a black 1990, with full spec (targa, full electrics including seats). It's covered almost 100,000, but with no service history. Although, it's recently been through a service at Nissan and had its cambelt changed. I've been told it's in immaculate condition (but then that's what they all say!). The asking price is £5k.

The 2nd is a 1991 (J), UK car in red. Covered 75,000 with FSH. Again full spec. New clutch and timing belt. It's going for a steal at £4,295! (to good to be true)

Finally, the 3rd is a grey import on a 92 and grey in colour. Fully loaded. No serive history, but it's a trade sale and the guy says that he can gurantee the mileage for me... but, I don't know if that counts for anything??? This one's going for £4,995.

I know that no one can tell the state of a car just by what I've just said, but I don't know if there are any differences in the models because they all vary in years, and one is a grey import.

Also, I was after a black car, but judging by the looks of things, the colour that most appeals to me is the one colour that I HATE in all other cars...RED! Black 300's seem to hide the lines of the car. What do others think???

Sorry to be a pain guys, but I really am desperate to get a car within the next 2 weeks (been on the look out for way to long!) but don't want to get lumbered with the wrong car. I've been reading the articles on here and everyone seems to be extremely helpful and thats why I trust your judgements and knowledge.

Thanks

well, the one with 100k miles & no service history id avoid like the plauge!!

the uk car with 75k sounds VERY cheap, but with fsh could be a bargain - just get a good inspection done on it

how many miles on the jap one?? many imports have no s/h.

as for colour - its what YOU like that matters, cant advise you on that!!! ;)

what ever one you go for, have it inspected & take it for a good long road test, motorway/fast a roads & round town if poss. watch for excessive smoking from the exhausts, carry out a ecu diag to check for any faults etc.

its easy to look past all the faults on these and get carried away & buy one, look carefully!! it could be costly to put right.

it took me months of looking to get the right one.

get an inspection.

Pref by someone here - or at the very least AA/RAC.

Good luck!

I got a UK manual for £4500 but its high milage and needed and still needs alot of work. The rear sills where rotten and I was quoted £770 perside to fix. Lucky me and my dad did it with virtually no cost but its a running battle and it took us 2 days per side to do and isnt completly finished. The rear spoiler was in tatters and I got a 2nd hand one at a good price and put it on myself. Now there is some rust apearing in the engine bay which needs getting hold of and jack damage which is starting to rust too.

So as you can see if you get a cheap one it will need a lot of work and unless you can do it yourself it will cost you a lot.

Stuart.

I was also looking for a month or so before I found one. I could not find an UK manual TT's within 40 miles so in the end I decided to go for a Grey Manual TT. I wanted to pay up to £8k for an L or M but went to see a G reg manual TT and was smitten. Need's 2 front tyres, tax and willl need a 65k service (done 69k) but apart from that is was very tidy and mechanically sound. also had a few extras like K&N air, Mongoose cat and back exhaust and a Turbo timer (which is a pain in the butt, and I have been tempted to turn it off a few times already).

While I mention it can someone tell me how many minutes a Turbo Timer shoul dbe set to. Also what are the benifits of these devices ?.

Stuart

Hey Gio,

The November issue of Evo does indeed have a nice looking Z in it ... what a shame about that tatty spoiler, though!!! LOL:p :p

Just joking .... your car proved a fine ambassador in that article:)

CheerZ,

John.

Quite right m8ey. It was a disgrace :D

Since then, the rear spoiler has been replaced by a Luke special and front/rear resprayed.

Sadly, the spoiler looks less-than-perfect and I have some pics which I am awaiting professional advice for.

I even checked to make sure that the bodyshop was recommended by forum. Hmm.

Wish I'd gone to Zcentre or Leonardo now......

Anyway - can't understand why they put that German barge on the front when they had pics of a particularly beautiful silver Zed inside. :)

Perhaps we should take it up with the EVO editorial team:D

Sorry to hear about the dodgy spoiler .. I'm on the look out for a decent bodyshop myself .. Luke's a bit to far away in Notts, what with me being a Southern Softy 'an all!:D

I'm thinking about going for the post-95 J-Spec front spoiler, as recommended by Mike. Seems like pretty good value at 270-ish squids. Need to find someone who's gonna fit it first, though, 'cos it sure as hell ain't gonna be me ....

(Apologies to smr1 for taking his thread well and truly off course!)

BTW, Gio, have you given up on the z-club forum, it's as quiet as the grave over there!

CheerZ,

John.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I've been frantically looking through the internet for as much info as I can get before I run off to look at any of the cars.

No doubt you guys will be hearing again from me very soon... well as soon as I've gone to check out the 1st car (prob this wednesday!)

I think I'm gonna go give my head a rest from all this car lark.

ouch bad timing huh. The server hosting most of the US sites is dead atm, those sites were a huge resource.

Anyway on the spoiler front, does anywhere sell the 99 spec spoilers? I like them, still, not as much as the zcentre bigass high level one ;)
