After making a few calls it seems that companies that will repair a cracked alloy wheel are few and far between.

has anyone had a wheel repaired/welded before and if so who did you use?.

the problem im having is that most wont weld a spoke.

mine were for a toyota supra so should be same as i have already hopefully.

have sourced a pair of these that are from a lexus gs300.

hopefully if all goes well i will be picking them up tomorrow afternoon and getting them sent of to be refurbed.

has taken a lot of searching for, so fingers crossed :-)

great news mate :thumbup1: Glad your not stuck with 3 of them..

picked them up today. they are really shabby, but are at least in one piece.

just about to drop them off with mikey bean whos gonna send to to be refurbed for me.

only downside to this is that they are the same width as my rear wheels and i liked the staggered look more.

dont know if 255's will be wide enough to fit onto a 9.5inch wide wheel so may need to get some more tyres.

I have 255 tyres on 9.5" wheels, although it tends to depend on the brand as to how wide they come up. So you're now going to have 9.5" wide wheels on the front? Fitting 9.5" wheels on the front will require an accurate offset and will more than likely rub the inner arch on lock. Do you know the exact offset of the wheels and have you tried them on first? It would be a shame to spend money on a refurb to find they don't fit.

Well done being patient, wish I could be so lucky. I have been 3 years now waiting for something to come up or for Voddy to give me one of his front mania vortex.

good news!

can you not disassemble a wheel and use the hub section. its likely they are standard, and the rim sections are what determines the width.

That's a bloody good idea, they need to be disassembled to be refurbed properly anyways. Probably best to use the two new centres and two old rims.

the original front 2 were et32.

what is the standard on fitting for the zx?

probably get some hubcentric spacers for front and back.

spacing shouldnt be a problem then.

hopefully these wheels should be back today or tomorrow.

Anyone got any hints for preparing them for painting.

do alloys reqire any specific undercoat to allow better adherence of annodized effect paint?.

I have had a few wheels welded, one on an rs4 alloy wheel that were notorious for splitting at the rim, after welding it split again, then welded again, and again split so they had to go,

next up were my Radius R1 alloys off my Nissan after a very nasty accident with a kerb I had to have them welded, the guy I used was very good indeed and he also commented on how good the material of the wheel was,

saying that I was looking for some wheels on ebay for my vw t5 these had a cracked spoke and im afraid spokes were frowned upon for welding even after calling round many wheel repairers and many forums I couldn't find anyone.

this is the reason ive opted not to have it repaired, but replaced instead.

i only found 1 place that would attempt it and they told me that there was a less than 50% chance of it lasting.

picked up mine today after they have been refurbed(not painted as im gonna finish these myself).

gave the lip a bit of paint. Suppose to be a chrome paint but to be fair its rubbish as chrome look goes.

well i didnt like the finish of the chrome paint(really was crap).

So ive changed that completely and gone a different way.

now its gonna be much more matched to the car.

if i get chance i will finish this one tomorrow.

theres definitely no inserts on the wheels. wish they was then i could of taken them off and had them chromed.

only other explanation is that axis said they stopped making these wheels because of so many others copying there design and the replacements are a copy of them.

look the same though.
