Did you notice how they breezed over the fact that EASA directives state minimum fuel loads and, like other airlines Ryanair adhere to that. They have a large proportion of the total European air traffic so statistically I would expect them to have a higher rate of this 'emergency'. That day in Spain they were held for 20mins, then diverted 20mins and then held for another 20+ mins due to traffic. By following (and exceeding) the current guideline 30mins extra requirement they all landed safely.

Indeed the cvr and fdr data is downloaded after any incident as it is subject to analysis and investigation. I know this as I do the downloads if required.

The program suggested that the CVRs were deleted from the RYR flights, as in unavailable for further investigation after the fuel maydays. Is that possible?

Yes. There is an erase button in the flight deck if the captain feels the need to press it, although he'd be looking for another job and possibly lose his licence I would've thought. The CVR data wouldn't be particularly helpful in these cases, its the flight data recorder (FDR) they would look at to analyse fuel loads etc.

The flight crews are all trained on how much fuel to carry depending on several different factors and they ultimately decide whether they take more (or less). The pilots involved in the 3 RYR fuel maydays that day were all acquitted, otherwise it would be them taking the wrath and be dismissed.

A very good friend of mine flys the new dreamliner for Thompson holidays long haul and he does,nt advise his family or friends to fly Ryan. I live under the short finals of a runway and every carrier always predictably sticks to the ILS track except half the ryan finals they come from wierd angles sometimes taking short cuts across the final track down like Tornado,s on a bombing run...very strange:wacko:

That's because they are irish and travel as the crow flies......literally...... I know a Ryan air pilot 'Shamus Crashbadly'....... lol

Sorry to the irish members before I get lynched.......lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Bitter (ex)pilots with some tactical editing and randomly generated statistics... Load of rubbish!

Just as I thought...

Your friend isn't this guy is he...? :p

I find it a bit shortsighted to advise avoiding them, what reasons did he give? There has never been a compromise in safety and to suggest a pilot might willingly fly his jet in danger, risking not returning home to his family?

Agreed, they should both have their stripes taken away and have to retrain, what a bizarre thing to do? I'm not 100% sure what happened to the flight crew involved in that.

As for the CVR bring erased, that's a little bit of artistic journalism; the CVR on a 737NG only records the last 30mins and is continuously overwriting itself, as soon as the captain was given clearance by ATC to start his engines on pushback it was already being erased. By the time the investigation was in full swing, the CVR would have been long erased. I'm not sure on the procedure for grounding an aeroplane after an incident in order to do a CVR download or swap it out.

I can't argue with that!

JP....... are you defending that little irish airliner at Stansted that you are working for.... ;)

Only kidding......

Listen up people, JP is one of the finest Aircraft Engineers in the South, let this be known and a lesson to you all..............

Only kidding again...lol

But no joke about JP's job and position :)

Alz.

But I have to admit..... The West side is better than the East side... ;)
