Something unique, or just a stupid idea and should go to bed lol

I've recently bought my first zed and its in pearl white. It needs the front bumper respraying at some point. It's got one of those foamy spoilers that always seem to go so that needs replacing, and the rear quarters have just started to rust. I've been told that white, especially pearl, is a bit of a fu#%er to match and have all the panels the same colour, so I'm thinking cd my funds are all in order. Get a new rear spoiler, get the arches cut out and new ones in. And maybe have 2 colours in the car, black possibly? With white pin striping. Black spoiler with the white pin, and black on the lower quarters all the way from front to back with some white pinstriping of sme kind. Maybe have 300zx written in pinstripe white?? Also need a refurb on the alloys if I decided to kee these or get another, but they could go black with white rim protectors, I just fancy something a bit fresh.

Let me know if its going to look crap or just want work, I'm not a car designer lol so it may just sound cool but really be a bit daft.

Once my funds are in order*** not cd,, damn autocorrect :)

id say do the work but before commiting to colour sceems id say get some pics and colour them in . i spent hours getting pics drawing and on the internet. some ideas i had i found them and they had been done, when i put them on the 300 the shape of the car they didnt look right. but do what you feel is right, not what the masses think is right.

Mine was white, now black and white

Not quite the same scheme you're thinking of but have a look at my pics, might give a bit of an idea mate :)

If you or a mate can use photoshop, take some angle shots and have a play.

Colour choice is very much your own, especially involving striping and grafic detail, so if you like it, go for it.

Cheers guys will take it all in. Do a bit of photoshop design work and see. Like I said it might not be for a while. But the longer I take with ideas the better the finished product will be :) and yes carmad spoiler will be from you lol already been sent your way :)

I can't add anything to what all the others have said buddy. Dave (car.mad) he has already been told that your spoilers are great.....lmao.

Go your own way Adam, do what you think is right for you, and as long a you like it then that's the whole point of individuality.

I don't think you need to cut out them rear arches though, just a rub down treatment and respray I think would sort them out and save you some cash, as it's only surface rust at the moment. I think Keith will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I was hoping that about the quaters ian. But with everything going on at hime I havent had chance to look at it in great detail yet. But if this bloody rain carries on like it has lately ill need to sort it soon :-( lol

The trouble with arches are, like sills, chassis rails and other box sections,, they rust from the inside out. The rot will between the skins and what may look like surface rusty will actually be deeper. No amount of rubbing down or rust treatment will stop it, I'm afraid it will need to be cut out otherwise it will come back. If not immediately, it will definitely come back after a winter.

The only time I personally would suggest rubbing down and treating would be for things like stone chips on the bonnet, door edges where paint has been chipped off, or areas where something corrosive has eaten through the paint and attacked the metal, like battery tray area (unless it was caused by general age related corrosion).

If it was me it would be all pearl white with all the lower stone guard smoothed down and painted new car mad 89 spec rear spoiler and to finish it of some new 99spec rear lights. But its your zed so do it your way mate only you can decide.

You need to take your own advice Gaz. Get your stone guard smoothed fella. Will finish your shorty off nicely :cool2:

To the OP, do what you want fella, it's your car. I wouldn't do it to my car but the point is its your car, so crack on :cool2:

You mean a bit like this one sold on ebay last week?

Silver, with black on bottom and red pin stripe down the side and across the rear bumper?

Actually I think it looked pretty good and worked well with the red rim stripe on the alloys

Your right there Daffy and been meaning to get it done along with black roof bars since I bought the zed but now I want a full respray also and that is going to cost a lot. Twice now I have had the money to do it then something else pops up and the money is gone. Need a lottery win mate.

Not a good look at all IMO. Reminds me of an old Ford Sierra that someone has welded up the sills on for the MOT and slapped Underbody Seal on the entire length of the sill in order to 'try' and disguise it.

From what I saw of it when I took Adam to look at the car, it was one side only, and the paint looked like it had been chipped beforehand, hence the comment I made. But like I said we have a gent who has been a body work specialist for 35 years, hence the comment that he would correct me if I am wrong.

all the same colour always looks better i think. when i see a car with 2 colours or a chav with a black bonnet and a red car it always looks like thay have been in a crash and have been the scrap yard and got the part of a car with a different colour and are just driving it till he can get it sprayed .but am sure many want agree with me

How about black roof bars on a Z (like my white one)?

Although I prefer a zed in a single colour I think that eBay one looks pretty cool!!

Reminds me of a Corvette or something
