Sounds like your tyres a rubbing. Any photos of your car? Reckon you might have a wacky offset and the tyres are rubbing on the arch lip.

....the reason you're getting it on one side only could be due to a number of factors - factory suspension/frame tolerance differences, camber differences, condition of bushings and other suspension components.
