what type of TIG do you have buddy and what size filler rods are you using

More than likely an inverter tig, and by the looks of it he needs to use smaller rods or not push through the puddle as much.

Still not bad welding. I have paid for worse !

yea ime thinking smaller rods myself with a tad more speed....its very hard to master when welding different thickness material. Ime on the look out atm for a ac/dc inverter myself and try steer away from MIG slightly plus the ability to get into a bit of titainium.

Don't forget guys this is aluminium, the bead is far thicker than mild or stainless steel. I actually prefer Ali it's easier to get into a Rhythm, too much heat ends you in a mess quickly though.

I have an Everlast DX200 Inverter Tig. I was using 3/32" filler w/ 3/32" (2.4mm) 2% Lanthanated Tungsten.

It really was tricky trying to weld the .080" sheet to the runner plate which was 1/4". I had my frequency set pretty low so it does make for a larger bead. I probably should've bumped it up to 80-90 to narrow the puddle a bit. Welding the .080" runners to the 1/2" plate was a bear! I'm trying to redesign it a bit so I don't have to put as much heat into the flanges as I needed. Maybe a raised lip where the runner meets the flange.

I bet bud...great job:thumbup1:

Nice work! How many hours do you reckon you put into this of actual construction, not including designing it?

Hey guys! Sorry it's been awhile! Getting married next month, and bought a house back in July. I've been working mainly on the house. The garage will have to wait for a little while.

Updates so far. Body work is coming along, no rush since I'm not ready for it at my new place.

The TBO sideskirts didn't have that great of fitment and needed to be modified for perfect fitment.

Antenna hole welded closed and roughly smoothed over.

Passenger side is all done! Next is the driver side quarter and hatch/spoiler.

I was actually wondering what happened to this thread only a couple of days ago.

Hope your settling into your new house nicely and congrats in advance for your wedding next month.

Progress has been slow this year with wedding planning and moving. Making progress on the home, it's livable but a fixer-upper. Maybe I'll start a garage build thread too! Once things settle down a bit this fall I should be able to get working on the Z again.

Okay everyone! The moment I've been waiting for!!! Little teaser shot of the paint. I fell in love with this color when I saw it in person last year at Cruisin' OCMD. Any guesses!?

I don't have any more pictures yet, hood, fenders and engine bay are next! Thanks guys, I don't think the stateside Z32 purists will like the color too much but that's their problem lol

Looking good! That will certainley stand out from the crowd when finished.

Colour looks like that special edition mica paint they put on Micras in the 90s.

Friend of mine had a FTO painted in it

It's the "Gotta Have it Green" that Ford uses on the Mustangs.

Here's some more updates, the fenders, hood, and sides are in primer. The doors are mounted on the new hinges. Took the front suspension off again to prep and repaint the engine bay.

Updates!

Molded the Winfactory CSL-R spoiler into the hatch. The fitment of the raw piece was incredible, very well worth the money.

The sideskirts and flares have been bonded to the body, the screws are temporary. The TBO side skirts took so much work to fit correctly, the door sizing was way off, one side was too long the other too short. They fit perfectly now. The TwinZ rear bumper has been edged and permanently installed.
