May be going to look at a zed. Need opinions please :-)

I've seen a zed on auto trader and I just need some advice as I think it's too cheap? The only faults I can see is a flat looking rear tyre and the rear light cluster doesn't look in great shape, also it doesn't say how much tax. Nut other than that it seems ok.

I'm due to call the bloke back soon so any quick advice would be great thanks

To the motor trade these cars are old cheap imported gas guzzlers that very few people want to buy.

I dont think the price is too low for a 20 year old car with well over 100000 on the clock.

£1500 for cash and no p/x

Looks quite clean in pics.... How far you got to go to see it?

I wonder if anyone lives near the trader and can go with you?

Definitely looks worth a look.....

Don't forget to check sills and floorpan for signs of rust..... When was cambelt last changed?

Any smoke on start up or boost, check oil and water levels.... check auto box is smooth...

There are loads of people on here that maybe local and have experience of crawling under their own Z that can help....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

That's what I was hoping to be honest. I think I am doing a swap with my current car but will have to see. I just want to be prepared when I call back

Now I would have been really cheeky and said £1200 and work up........

It's 120 miles from me :-/ but I am willing to travel

My list of questions is

Sills

Cambelt

Tax

Tyre

Light cluster

Auto box oil change.

Anything else

Looks a clean tidy example, UK spec so check out all the places already mentioned by veilside01702 and as stated there may be a member local to it that can either go with you or go and look at it on your behalf.

It's a good price assuming the associated gremlins aren't present. I would be having a very good look underneath and paying particular attention to the targa drains and the sills. I would also lift the boot carpet and remove the tool trays etc to make sure the boot floor hasn't fallen victim to a leaky rear screen.

It's a TT auto in UK guise, I used to own one of these but gave in to the lust of a manual, this can be relatively easily rectified with a conversion though. I sold mine due to rust and smokey tubs.

I would consider a thorough health check of the engine as its getting to the mileage where it could potentially require an expensive overhaul or costly components replacing. I would also recommend allowing the car to idle for 10mins once up to temp and make sure it doesn't start smoking from either exhaust. The exhaust looks oem, if its the original pipes that is a very good sign of a weekend summer toy as I would have expected a daily drive or more all weather cars exhaust to have rusted requiring expenditure.

Obviously follow all the standard inspections when buying a new car, try and assess whether it has had any knocks and bumps (removing the bits in the boot also reveals any misshaped panels pointing to a rear end shunt and possible alignment issues) but other than that I'd say they are the key things to look out for that could catch you out.

Use the price as a base and add up in your head what the likely extra costings would be, based on the defects you find. £1600 could easily be doubled if these problems start to arise. Air on the side of caution...

The "Rebuck Nissan" in the service book was taken over by Dan Perkins and now known as WLMG in Dover Road Slough. I used to get my first Z serviced there and they were OK (for a Nelson). The car looks a little tatty (missing steering wheel Z badge, leather, and the front wheels are the wrong way round but as far as you can see from the pics, looks not bad for the miles. Can't see what that "X" sticker in the window says. It's not RichardSmith's old red one is it?

It's a UK car and, if it is as unabused as it looks, for £1,500 could be a bit of a bargain. To be honest, if I had the spare, I'd buy it myself to keep it stock!

I did notice the exhaust not being aftermarket. I couldn't decide whether that was a good sign or bad to be honest

Wow. What a waste of time that dealer is, very disappointed in the conversation, sounded like he couldn't wait to get me off the phone. He will tax it and there's no rust. And before I could have a chance to ask my questions he was hanging the phone up asking for me to come and see it!! Unbelievable! Sounded a decent car too. Last owner had it for 16 years and was always garaged!! Bit stuck here to be honest

wasnt this advertised by a member on here, it came in as a trade in and he wanted to sell it on

Not to sure buddy I've not seen it on here but I may be wrong. If they're a member on here then It would be nice to know :-) maybe he might have some more spare time for me

Not a bad deal a swap, your Skoda is worth about 1.5k-1.6k in the trade.

1950 its valued at trade in price I asked for 400 quid my way because he can stick the skoda up for about a grand more than the nissan and it will defiantly sell faster than the nissan. He offered me 200 quid but I can't afford to only have 200 on top. It'll cost 80 odd quid in fuel to get home lol

Dealers get a lot of time wasters ringing them but still no reason to hang up on you. Make an appointment to see the car and ask him all the questions you need of him.

He didn't hang up as such but defiantly hurried me off the phone, I'm going to have a think abut it tonight and decide in the morning. It's a long way to travel if we can't make a deal

Where did you get a trade value of £1950 from?

Whatcar valuation bud

I see lol Whatcar strikes again. Seriously though if he has offered you £200 and the car taxed and serviced then that is a pretty fair deal in my opinion. Just check that 300 over properly because any warranty he gives you will not be worth the paper it is printed on!
