I'm thinking of buying a 300ZX, probably a 2+2 model (due to occasional need to transport 2 small children), but reading reviews and things it's unclear to me which types boast 2+2 configurations. Are all types (non-turbo, TT, targa etc.) available as 2+2, or is it only certain ones. Or am I being really stupid and ALL 300ZX's are 2+2s?

Can someone clarify this for me.

Oh, and the next question is - just how practical/impractical are the rear seats in the 2+2?

Many thanks,

Kess

2+2's were all that were available in the UK, all TT's & all (i believe) with t tops, other configurations ,swb, na's, convertables etc were import only.

so on an import, you could have a na if you wish.

rear seats ok for small kids, my 13 yr old is a little squished in the back, but not too bad

Two small children would be in the lap of luxury.

When I bought my Z my son was 12 and easily fitted in the back. Now 14 and 6'1" amazingly he still fits in the back with his hair just brushing the rear screen. I put it down to the lack of bodyfat at that age and the fact that I'm not tall enough to need the drivers seat al the way back! The problems come if ones rear end does not easily adapt to the rear seats?

I've also had rather meatier adults in the back but only for journeys of up to one hour and then I did crunch my seat forward to help make it possible.

The rear 'seats' are just a padded parcel shelf with a couple of lap belts on. I have found a single adult will fit if they lay down!

Must have some stumpy legged people on this forum!:D

i can still fit in the rear of a z if my mum beats me to the front seat (not offte but occasionaly) and ime about 6 foot tall and weigh 16.5 stne so it cant be that small :D

I could 3 of me mates in the back of my mk3 supra, tight and uncomfortable but i was sat in the drivers seat so didnt matter, now i just got me zx i dont think they'll be voting for me to do the pub runs anymore, but on the supra i had the seat right back and it would touch the rears, on the nissan it doesnt so if uve got 1 inch legs your welcom to a ride :)

UK cars have 3 point inertia reels in the back. Ive 3 kids so I was even considering a lap belt in the middle at one point but resorted to sense and use another car if the whole gang needs fitted in

..but I guess you are stuffed for using the back seats if you're a 6 foot plus driver

They are not back seats - they are excuse for back seats. :D

So saying, I have had a 6'2" 18stone bloke in the back on a journey that lasted about an hour. He was a wee bit uncomfy but fitted.

UK specs are 2+2 - the SWB are import only. :)

Thanks for all the info guys!

So all UK-spec cars were 2+2's with twin-turbos and targa-tops - that's ideal!

By the way, what are SWB and NA (normally aspirated?)?

Thanks,

Kess

SWB - Short Wheel Base (Ie - no "back seats")

NA - Normally Aspirated. :D

swb = short wheel base = 2+0 = 2 seater ;) you got the na bit correct.

cheers
