cruz cont button

I feel a bit stupid asking this but im sure this is the place to ask what does the cruz cont button do ive had 3 zeds and never used this ,I must have pushed it when cleaning and a green light with cruise cont came on after a few mins of driving so I clicked off but don't know what it does

    You should turn on the cruise control using the right hand pod. Drive up to the speed you want to cruise at and press set on your steering wheel

    it arms the cruise control READY for activation either via the main control buttons or stalk depending on what series car you have ,

    It lets you operate the cruise control, you should have three buttons on your steering wheel, push the set button and it should maintain your speed without you pushing the accelerator. Go out on the motorway and test it. Just touch the brake pedal and it will cancel it or push the cancel button on the wheel.
