Just out of intrest at the moment from the back end of another thread but who on here would be intrested in a drive to Le mans 24hour meet. And camp for the weekend. We could meet up in our areas, for example i would meet guys in mc donalds car park in norwich say x time then meet up further down the line in say a petrol station on route down a11. then down to dartford were we meet up for lunch with the london crew and whom ever say at darftford service station. then down to dover folkstone crossing for the afternoon them have a planned place to meet down there say3 and so on and so forth.

A 300 convoy to Le Mans a long weekend break for next june.

any intrest.

Any particular advice you are after?

The main one I can say is book early. You want your camping and your tickets booked by December at the latest.

Ferrywise depends on how much you wanna drive.

DFDS are cheapest and have 2 routes - Dover-Dunkerque (1hr50) and Dover-Calais (bit more expensive but only 50 mins)

P&O run Dover-Calais and are more expensive.

Dunkerque is further North in France than Calais.

If you car is low, ensure when you check in that you tell the ticket lady in the booth! That way they will leave you on a freight deck rather than up onto the car decks. This is especially essential on the DFDS Dunkerque route (I worked on these ferries, and had to deal with numerous vehicles beaching on the ramp).

Motorway is quickest way to Le Man, but it's a toll road.

The N roads are single carriageway, but free.

I could go on and on. So lemme know specifics of what you want.

See even little things like this will make all the difference to the whole smooth running of things and less stress so any info you might have will be much appreciated and thanks.I dont know if you know of this part but i was looking at this part to camp in speed chill private campsite at Beausejour. its a private site with cctv and hot shower blocks places that sell english food with english speaking staff. just the little things that help cas i cant speak any french. i still learning the english lingo.lol

Yup. camped with Speedchills a couple of times in their private area.

Food is basic but good. certainly saves BBQ'ing yourself. The beer and the food are a tad expensive, think London prices. They have a mammoth covered eating area with huge TV,s and 24/7 race coverage.

Back in the day when I was trucking around Europe I used to enjoy the Le Mans weekend, some nice cars on the ferry that I used to scare the crap out of, looking up from their ac cobra's at my truck with 3 jcb's on the back about 18" away lol

Not sure on prices, but Le Harve or Cherbourg would be the nearest ports and just 'A' roads to drive down so no tolls.

I'd be interested in this too :)

This idea is getting better the more I think about it, if I can get an idea on cost I could factor it into my budget. Just started up on my own so the pennies will have to be counted for a while :)

Cheers, Steve

This was an idea I posted on the original thread, not least because I've always wanted to go to LeMans . Thought the idea of 300zx group run would be fun, especially as Nissan I believe are returning to Le Sarthe next year with a LMP1 Nismo team, so we might be able to do a promotional tie up with them?

On a practical basis, it could be worth considering a trip linked with Pistonheads as they run a camping trip every year, supplying club marquee, BBQ etc, I understand they also encourage club groups to join them. I will look into this a little more as a heads up option.

Also is the general concensus going to be Guys an Girls or does anyone have petrol head kids who would want to join in. Personaly I would like to bring my Lad along but it could be postponed to another year! Also prefer the idea of a Road Trip, so "A" roads for me not boring motorways..I want to be able to drive the Zed!

Hope this thread continues to grow in interest and commitment.

I will keenly keep an eye on this thread.

I've taken my Zed abroad a number of times and love it. It's a bit too early for me to commit just yet due to work but i am defo interested.

Might be worth asking a mod to move this thread to the National Events bucket where it won't get lost and will be easier to keep up to date with. Only a suggestion, but sounds great!!!

So it seems that theres a fare amount of intrest then . Im away working at the moment so cant do any reseach and planning. But that said it was like i say an idea from the back from steves thread so ill be P.M him laters. Also like the idea of meeting up with piston heads making the trip more fun down. and some friend with some awsome cars that would i know be up for it.

Seems theirs a good interest for Le-Mans 2014!

Thought I would look a but further into this and follow up on Lexx's reccomendations!, so a quick summary.

1st Tickets.

http://www.speedchills.com/le-mans-24-hours/private-camping/prices

They offer a complete booking experience for their campsites , to include Eurostar and Ferry crossings (longer carriers also covered), there sites have the full facilities adn are in good proximity too the circuit. They also have a club package which offers addiotnal benefits but for me this is why I would prefer the Piston heads package.

Pitson Heads

http://www.1st-tickets.co.uk/ph/enquiriesph.html

Also managed by 1st Tickets, the Pistonheads package includes its own campsite (Bleu Nord) just off the Start/ finish area and a full club package, which includes, Marquee, bar, breakfast & dinner included x 3, guests, live band and usual camp sites facilities, (hot showers, clean bogs!!! Lol).

Bonus with the Pistonheads package is taht if your comiong as a group/Club they will allocate you space so that you can camp together and don't have to arrive at the same time, as you can start camoing form the Wednesday. The Campsite is shared with the Aston Martin owners club, so should be in good company.

As it's the offcial return of the Nissan LMP1 team, we might be able to get some sort of promotional deal with the team (perhaps visit the team pits, banners, etc)

so a few links to go with to get a feel of what might suit, including http://beermountain.com/, which has a lot of info on what to do and when to do it....

Cheers, Steve.

both look good m8 the pistonheads looks dearer all round and i think with the running costs of the zeds most guys will be thinking of the cheaper one, just imo, will go with the majority though. do we have a rough dates penciled in? trev.

Great idea and great thread which looks like it might get of the ground. I would love to go but again I am stuck in Belfast which would mean two ferries and more expense but lets see. Keep pushing on this guys and lets see a 300zx.co.uk convoy to Le Mans
