Hello,

I need a replacement diff as mine has a lot of "slop"

I am looking for an r200 short nose vlsd,

I have found a couple, but I now need to make sure I am getting the right ratio.

What is the standard axle / diff ratio , I read in some places it is 3.7:1 but in others that it is 4.08:1

I guess they are different based on country of origin and wether it is a NA or TT ?

I am looking for 3.7:1 as I read that is the standard uk ratio......

How can I tell, is there a casting stamp or is it down to a manual turn of the input shaft and count wheel rotation ?

And if anyone has one they want to sell me, get in touch !

Thanks for the help

All TT's are 3.692

All NA's are 4.08

The TT uses a R230 VLSD, and the NA uses a R200 VLSD. (both shortnose)

The subframes, driveshafts, propshaft flange and hubs all differ between TT and NA (ie. You cant fit a TT diff in an NA or vice versa, without swapping all the rest out too)

The R200 diff is the NA diff.

The stock R230 TT rear end is 3.69.

The stock R200 N/A rear end is 4.08

They both look different. They're a different size. They should have a stamp on the casting.

Hope this helps.

The Na is a smooth flange with 4 bolts where it bolts to the prop and the TT's flange is like a cup and has 8 bolts iirc or 6 lol!!

Easy to tell the two apart :)

The na has no hicas as well , i think leader gears converted a few r230 tt diffs to the na ratio 4.1 but i have never seen any come up for sale ever

thanks for the replies everyone,

I am looking for an r200 to go into a TR6, i can get the conversion kit, but it needs to be an r200 vlsd from an NA, so i guess i have to live with a 4.08 ratio... that will give me a faster "launch`" but a higher engine speed on the motorway... i only have 4 gears.

apparently this diff in 3.45:1 ratio was used in the USA in the infinity Q45 during the 90's, as we never got them in the UK, i guess i wont find one , unless someone knows they were in another UK nissan ?

it's ironic that i joined this forum when i was looking for a TT last year and here i am looking for bits of one !

just remembered, they are also found in the skyline r32

Iirc they are slightly different using 6 bolt drive shafts like the r230 diff from the tt
