The Time Attack series move to Oulton Park on Sat Jul 20th.

check out this link....................

Hopefully this round will see both Bobgenie and Jaffa taking part.

I know Bob is virtually ready and Im sure Jimmer and James will be making sure James is ready too.

Bob will have the Eurospec team providing assistance on the day and Im sure Jimmer will be doing the sames for James/Jaffa.

I will be in the pits also but hopefully with not a lot to do.

All club members are welcome to come along and if you are new to Time Attack then I should have time on the day to explain the basics to you. Just catch up with me on the day. Its an exciting format but can look a little odd compared to mainstream racing

Sometimes Bob and James have time to chat but please be aware that this is not a given. It can get quite hectic down in the pits:blink:

You can book advanced tickets or just turn up on the day and pay at the gate.

Any questions... just ask.

lol at the podium spots! do you know how fast the other cars and more importantly, the drivers are! Oulton Park was new to both of us so I don't think podium was on the cards unless others had failures.

Tucked into the garage the night before

Day started well, a few teething issues related to heat management, new ECU etc uncovered during the morning sessions and getting used to the pedal box when being used in anger :) Of course, had to learn the track too!

Best time in warm-up was 2:16, then 2:08 in practise. ECU trips were caused by the high water temps, and those were fixed by Jimmer borrowing a welder from another team and giving me the first, powerzed patented, fully locked viscous fan :) This worked a treat

Then it was time to get serious as there were points up for grabs in qualifying and the final.

Qualifying was going well, mistake in my first flying lap, then put in a 2:03 (still sloppy) and then this happened ...

I went in too fast, scrubbed the speed off and balanced the throttle, felt it sliding but tried to ride out and failed. Was surprised the damage wasn't worse. Thanks to help from both Jimmer & Pete, and scrouging a few parts off others in the pits I managed to get back out for the final, time was only a 2:07 but enough for some points.

Damage was bumper mounts broken, but surpringly the rest is in one piece, even my splitter was only cracked. Holed a silicon coupler, bent the support for one of the wings and it's scratched but in one piece. Biggest damage found so far is the lower arm on driver side is bent. Should get most of that sorted this week ready for TOTB next weekend :D

And here are a couple of shots of the damage repair exercise,

With 4 cars in each garage there wasnt a lot of room to work.

This wasnt helped by the circuit/organizers allowing garage access to all the Joe publics present:glare:

Check out those legs!!!!!

Mate the car sounds fantastic. You not got any videos from the outside of the car?

Sorry you hit the wall but at least the damage wasn't too bad

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Oh no! I can't believe how violently the steering wheel was rattling around as you ran across the grass, proper thumb breaker. Sounds really good

We are on holiday so not got a lot of info. I thought we did ok at Oulton considering never having seen the place before. I managed to improve with every session and despite a few mistakes in the final left with a 2.01 so fairly satisfied. I am only running 510 at the fly at time attack so it's quite respectable. With Brands and Donny to go still time for another podium I can pull my finger out :-)

Good job guys. Sorry to see about the little off James, luckily the damage was not too bad.

I hope to be able to make it out to one of the future time attack events.

Wooh only just seen this thread, glad you managed to sort the car out and it wasn't any worse. Also well done Bob good time.
