It never binged when i engaged reverse before? Also i had an auto to manual conversion at jeffs, so i need to track down where this switch is likely to be ???. Time to get the screwdrivers out :cursing:

Gearbox_switch_sensor.jpg hope this helps....

Mine used to do the binging noise when I went over certain speed as it was import as well....

I put in the kph to mph converter and it stopped.....

Is yours an import?

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

its in the actual gearbox but if you say its never binged until now and also that you've had a conversion I would

say one of the cables for the conversion needs sorted.

Firstly stick it into reverse and get someone to check if the reverse lights actually come on.

If they don't then either the switch is busted or the loom is which should be a custom cable from the gearbox to the drivers side of the engine bay.

Else an easy fix is to remove the binger module which is located under the dash somewhere near the heater pod ecu in the drivers footwell.

So in preparation for having to fix this does anyone have a working backup / reverse switch and how much do you want for it please

It could be the switch stuck..... If it gets stuck in reverse position then it would just keep the lights on....

Or it could be a short in the wire and the switch is okay.....

Engine off..... Put clutch down and knock it into reverse a couple of times and see if it releases it.....

You could try tapping the switch with a screwdriver handle and see if it releases....

Could easily be stuck on but not an easy task testing directly as the switch is at the top of the gearbox,

you may get to it with thin hands when on a 2 or 4 poster but not sure if it can be removed without taking the full box out either.

Hopefully it will be a bad loom connection when the conversion was done and easily diagnosed top end and fixed.

Ill try the loom plugs, got to try and find the custom loom one, its all a bit full in that corner, cant get the car in the air to trace the wires from the gbox so might have to be a garage job !!!

Glad to help any fellow club member and If I was close enough and a bacon butty was available I would have came round too !

But its a near 500 mile round trip so it would have to be a bloody good bacon butty for me to come.

If it comes to it mate there will be a steak pub lunch for the one who helps me fix it.

Im going to order a cam belt kit so might get the issue fixed at the same time as the cam belt gets fitted,

Depends if im feeling brave enough to do the job myself........and if it stops bloody raining !!!
