Hi guys,

Im sure I asked this before but can't remember what I was told lol.

I bought a new 99spec bumper from zcentre, just about to get my car resprayed by my bro in law, he paints really good but my last bumper got sort of spider web cracks in the paint and chipped off.

I was told u have to use a special plastic thing in the paint, I really don't want this bumper to crack when I fit it together.

I feel somtimes my painter is lazy and just painting the bumper lol.

so anyone know how or what I need so I can say oi that aint right...lol...

Any help appreciated,

Plasticiser ( i think thats what its called) needs to be added to make the paint pliable, a paint shop or good painter will know what its called lol

Im sure he does, but has said im calling a favour to paint my car and I know he gets lazy lol.

Thanks, I'll look on flea bay see if theres any there...

I think its a flex and adhesion promoter which is added to the paint, some say its not required on bumpers but from what i have read it is recommended for urethane bumpers

Last time when I fitted it, I stretched the bumper to make it fit properly and spider web cracks appeared.

so this time I'll get the stuff, got a spray shop near where I work, I will try in there its easier to ask then on ebay.

hopefully they will give me stuff.

Yes - what Graham said.....

......the 99-spec bumper is quite flexible; it bends instead of cracks in the event of a minor "bump" so you need this plasticiser (or whatever it is called) in the pait to make that flex as well. Or else the paint will crack and flake off if the bumper flexes. Which it will over time....!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
