Which settings should I use to check the TPS on this multimeter and which holes should the connectors be in.

Aint done it for a long time but dure this is right.

 

20v and looks like leads should be where they are.

 

Black lead to earth on battery, and red to the middle wire on the plug thats coming out the tps on a wire.

 

0.45v closed throttle, I normally snap the throttle open before I take volt meter off to make sure it goes straight to 0.45v cause sometimes u set it there then snap throttle open and it will go to 0.46v which seemed to make my idle crap.

Yep as Terry says. Don't forget to unplug the lead for a few seconds if you adjust it though, it needs this to read the new voltage correctly.
