I could not stand any more!!. The grey tweed carpet material trim in my Zed HAD TO GO!.

So I spent my bank holiday removing the offending material and replacing it with matching colour charcoal vinyl. I had no experience in doing this sort of thing before and hoped it would not turn out crap!.

However it can be done ( even by me ) and it turned out very well. I did not want to go for a change in colour such as red and kept it in charcoal to match the leather. This has made the interior look much more refined.

The total cost was £70.00 for the material and contact adhesive ( and my time, a day and half!). I would advise anyone who has an early Zed with this tweed carpet to have a go. The material is a very good match and does look just like the leather. It makes it look superb, have fun!

how long did it take and how easy are we talking did you do all the panels including the glovebox and gearbox area

Hi Tooley.

You just highlighted the most difficult part to do, the glove box. The only panels I removed to upholster were the panel below the steering wheel and the lift up panel between the front seats. The rest I did in position. It is just a case of taking your time, making sure you apply enough contact adhesive and making a few strategic tucks here and there!. The benefit of using vinyl material is that it will stretch into shape. the guy i got the material from said that I would have to stitch some material together to get the shape around the glove box. This is not he case as I managed to do a neat job no problem. As I said before the finished job does not look bad. You are able to go over the existing material and tuck the new into the panel joins. Have a go and take your time. It is a damn sight cheaper than the £500.00 I was quoted to get a "professional" uphosteror to trim it!!!!

Good Luck M8

give me a shout if you need any more info.

Hi Warren.

The car is having the solenoids on the turbos changed at the moment and I will get it back within the next day or so. As soon as I do I will take the pics and post them to show you. It will certainly be worth your while doing. I am well chuffed as to how mine turned out!.
