Hi everyone,

My timing belt has now been on the car for 4 years, but i have only done 9000 miles max in that time, the car is always off the road during winter so should i replace it??

You have another year yet before considering a timing belt change and with such a low mileage i wouldnt be too worried just yet, but worth taking timing covers off to inspect it at least. Even if not used much the rubber can deteriorate over time.

Yup - what Graham said.....

.....It's recommended to change the belt at 60k miles or 5 years. But to be honest, if you've only covered 9k miles in 4 years, then I'd chance it a bit longer!

My first ZX had covered just over 60k (genuine) miles when I bought it - and it was still on its first belt at 12 years old!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
