Ive just came in from work to a lovely renewal from my insurance last year i was paying £540 which i think is good for a TT 1994 with a couple of mods but 6 months ago my wife skidded on some ice and hit a car resulting in a fault claim so anyway back to this renewal they want £1532 this year how the frecking hell can they justify that. When i rung them they told me its because it was because of the claim being my fault and they have to get so much back as theys more and more claims.

Rip off or wat ?

Can anyone recommend another as ive always thought i was lucky with insurance and didnt worry about it.

Terry.

Try firebond I pay just over £300 fully comp and protected bonus good or what? Jeff TT

That's cheap, if this is not too personal how old are you and what area do you live in.

I pay £600 for mine, but just had a quote from Elephant for around £500 which is not bad.

I am 31 and live in ESSEX.

No probs I am 40 and live in Tamworth Staffordshire, however although I live some 20 miles or so from Birmingham I still have a B.ham post code. My brother who is 8 years younger and live 15 miles from was qouted £40 less than me because he has a Staffordshire post code, does your head in sometimes eh. Jeff TT

Thanks for response guys but i tryed firebond they only take cars 10 years and over on a classic car scheme,Igot back onto my insurance today to discuss my policy being £1000 more this year and said im pulling both my cars from them after abit of humphing and haring and a supervisor chat ive got it for £1096 so its better than £1468 im not happy but no were else will touch me with my wife having a claim and 6 points maybe i should just get rid of her .

thanx Terry

Try Bell Direct or ring them on 0800 140180 as they seem to be quite good. Or Admiral on 0990 480000. They are sister companies but for some reason they can out do each other on the quotes.

Mine is £627 for 120000 miles and an MK postcode. Do have 9 years protected NCB and am female, 27, though.

Curiously enough Admiral made it slightly cheaper for me, IF I included my wife !

Something to do with shared risk .... didn't quite understand their reasoning but took them up on their offer. Also managed to drop about £70 by not including their breakdown policy as we already have joint AA membership. Think I paid about £550 this time.

I can't wait till I'm older!! I'm paying £1700 FC on my '91 TT import with Privilege Insurance, with 3ncd and 6 points - oh yeah... and I'm only just 21!!!! I reckon I must be one of the youngest Z drivers on the forum!! (or the only mug to pay hefty insurance!!)

Nah chris you're not the only mug. I'm 22 and am currently paying £1400 for my NA - and that's only TPF&T cover. I was lucky to even get it down to that, cause as I've changed my car every 9 or 10 months, I keep losing the no-claims in the policy transfer. The most pathetic quote I got for the Z was 3.4k. YE-HEAH RIGHT ! As if I'd paid that ! ! !

Pain in the ass insurance ! redface.gif( Now I've just been ingformed that it's being raised by another 25% this year. That's hellishly annoying when you've gone out of your way to keep a clean licence, yet still get the brunt of other peoples misfortune/mistakes. I don't know why I bother !

ChrisF,

Don't wish your life away, I'd happily pay £1700 if it made me 21 again !

But hey guys im 29 clean liecence 10years full protected no claims and i get quotes around £1500 ?? Over one mistake my wife does is it justice for 10 years of good driving. Or and its bell direct im with which (weregood).

cheerz guys

What they have clearly indicated is that they no longer require your busines. Insurers regularly do this for 'specialist' areas, in fashion one year, out the next. Then another one sees an opportunity to pick up business and they become competitive. Just move on ...

Hopefully through this forum we can make everyone aware of the good ones and perhaps give people an indication of what they should be paying.

I agree Tezza, that is greatly unfair... which is why I'll ruthlessly stick to my rule. No-one drives the car but me. Don't care whether it's girlfriend/wife/family member.... if it ever gets into trouble, it'll be while I'm at the wheel.

Just a note about Firebond that you've all been using under their classic car scheme..

Just called and they can't get imports under this scheme, putting their prices at or above others (like my present one, Bell Direct).

You said you were with bell, How much has yours gone up this year if you dont mind me asking.

Terry.

Dunno yet. Doesn't finish till sept. But my other car is up now, so I called just in case it made sense to move them both over to firebond now.

You've got me worried now.... how much did yours go up ?

stu

Read above mate.

only £1000 pocketmoney for a 300 driver eh?

WISH

Bell Direct quoted me £200 less than their sister company Admiral. I tried Firebird on the off-chance (as I have only just taken the policy out with Bell) and they came out at £1200. They then sent me a nice mail stating that they had seen me go for a quote and then cancel...what was wrong? So I informed them of £600 worth of what was wrong, in that their cheapest was far, far more expensive than my current quote. I have not heard back from them yet.... Don't really expect to.

I am 21 and was paying £2580 insurance on an import TT (i was 20 when I first got it),

just got my renewal letter sent through and it is now £1590 ......... result.....!!!

That was Willsure, I may try Firebond aswell

Tatatata i wish i was 21 years old again, then i only had 1 grey hair lol

i pay 620 through firebond and i have to say this is a damn side better thasn 1500 i was paying!!!!

I'm with Firebond too.

1990 TT import

Classic policy Max 6,000 miles

£283

They know it's an Import etc & didn't need no claims...
