Attack at Croft

11 May 2013

General Time Attack information

The Time Attack Series is dedicated to representing the aftermarket scene and to providing a relevant motorsport to those within the scene. As a result we have formulated various classes within Time Attack that allow us to accommodate almost every level of driver and car type/marque and class them into a category that is fitting for that level, making any achievement relevant, substantial, meaningful and more importantly- sporting.

Time Attack is open to ALL marques and contrary to popular belief Time Attack is not just for the high-end tuner cars with large budgets. Since Time Attack was introduced to this country in 2005 we have worked hard to formulate classes that appeal to the guy on the street through to the high end tuners (from within the ultra competitive aftermarket tuning scene) that come to battle for Time Attack honours.

Why are the time frames across the board so low:confused:....you dont seem to get much for your money iff you enter..

it's not a track day! it's about competing. You usually get 2 15min sessions to get used to the track, then qualifying, then the final.

yes i know that...what i meant was there is not much "competing and driving" time for all the money and time that goes into being able to compete. So thats about 1 hour per meeting on the track or am i missing something here:confused:

honestly, you don't want much more on the day. It's pretty full on, and if there are any issues, or tire changes needed due to weather etc it's pretty tight between the sessions.

It's a relatively small series so there's usually another 2 series sharing the same day to make it practical. But again that limits time per session.

What would be good is a testing day before hand as part of the series but that would increase costs. For a few of the meetings there's a public track day the day before so you can sign on to that to learn track etc

Thanks. Are you guys in the club challenge?

Yep! Both of them are in the Club Challenge class..

In my opinion.. if you are coming to watch and enjoy the day then aim to see official practice late morning and both afternoon sessions.

It just gets more bonkers as the day goes on. Faster and more furious..

As said they are not actual races but the object in the 15 min session is to get one clear "fast" lap.

Sounds simple :innocent:... and it would be if you had the track to yourself BUT with 25+ other drivers trying to do the same thing at the same time and occupy that very same bit of track..... it aint simple.

And thats just the Club guys.

I rarely get to see the pro classes as Im back with Bobs car (or James sometimes) in the pits but its a repeat of the Club session but even more bonkers.

Its actually quite addictive when you get in to it.

yea that would really be the cherry on the cake as regards to setting the cars up applicable to the track being used, but as you say ime sure the costs would be more too.

what sort of power are you 2 getting,i had a lap or so behind the white one and it was very quick on the straights,i had to bull my way past on the inside of the hairpin and VERY nearly ended up understeering into the side of him

awesome fun!!!

Hi Darron,

I was running around 700hp in the morning (first time in the car at that level!), some electrical gremlins holding it back for qualifying and final which was a shame. Bob must be around the 500 fly mark from when I was following him around. Your trap speeds suggest your not shy on power vs weight either!

Quick write up

Great weekend for the 300, both myself and Bob competitive and scoring points. I got 2nd in Qualifying, 4th in the final.

Car has been mapped by TurboNoz, so unlocked a fair bit more torque and hp (ok, a lot!), however the car has suffered from electrical gremlins over the last 2 week, causing Noel a headache, so huge thanks for his patience with the car, but also meaning I couldn't get some other jobs I wanted doing before the event.

Collected the car from Noel on Friday night on the way to Croft and got to try it out on the Saturday, on a new circuit to me - fun times!

Gremlins in the morning meant it was a battle to just to get it started in the morning, but once running it was fantastic for the morning sessions, very fast on the straights and letting me build up speed in the corners. More gremlins in the afternoon meant the car was down on power and laggier, but times stayed about the same as my confidence grew in the corners.

All in all a positive result, with a lot of work to be done over the next few weeks to sort my electrical issues out, fit my new rear brakes (way overdue!) and get the car back to Noel so he can finish the map

My fastest laps in the final:

I was stood on the hill by the hairpin all day, wish I'd been near the other end now because that cold tires third gear spin was an awesome save! Good work. It was great seeing two zeds amongst the usual scoobys evos and skylines, good luck at snetterton.
