Hi guys, been swapping my trims over today with the ones I bought from Baz on here recently. While I was doing the driver side under-dash trim I came across 2 items dangling loose behind it, that clearly shouldn't have been (just dangling that is). The first one is a Nissan-labelled black box with a multi-plug going in to it. There is a metal bracket fixed to it that obvs should be used to attach it to something as a permanent fixing. Not overly concerned at this as it doesn't seem to be doing much harm loose for the time being....the other thing however, looks more like it has broken off something or been removed? (Possibly hicas or something?) it is a white plastic plug typed thing with a black wire and a red wire feeding it. It has some sort of spring loaded connector inside it.....

I have updated my new zed blog with the new trim progress, and added 2 pics at the end of the 2 offending items, for anybody free to have a look for us and she'd some light on what they are, and more importantly what the second white connector thing should be doing.......http://steveszed.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/trims.html

Cheers in advance....

I think the thing with 12 written on it is the oem Nissan alarm or central locking something like that I believe, might be wrong though.

Ur prob right on that one cos I found the relay to the cat 1 alarm under there too, and it seemed to have a feed off/to this. That will be handy to know when I come to sort remote central locking out....

I'll try n get a better pic of the white thing, but its got some sort of spring loaded contact inside, not dissimilar to the bushes on a washing machine or power drill. It seems to lead up to the steering column/ignition barrel area.....

Them dash and console trims look loads better than the tweed Steve!

Miles better m8, made up with em. Cheers. Got a bit of jiggery-pokery to do with the doors cos I got the older doorfixed seatbelts, but not a massive drama.....

Don't click on next blog at the top of Steves page you get transported to some very unpalatable pages.

Been out in the zed today for the first time since I swapped the trims over.....came to use my horn near a school at letting out time when some dippy kids decided to step out in front of me with their backs towards me, not even looking if the road was clear....horn didn't work. Deffo working prior to the trim refit....the white thing with the spring looks favourite now for this problem, but can't see how it's come away just by dropping the lower dash trim. Didn't touch the steering cowling etc....

Horns on zeds are crap and stop woring for a hobby anyway, try cleaning the connections and blowing it out, it might be full of rain water that what often happens, or the earth gets crud.

Cheers. I'm pretty sure it's down to this white spring loaded contact thing in the blog pic that I was asking about earlier though. Seems too much of a coincidence. Will explore further over weekend...

Ok fixed the horn. That was a bum steer - for some reason it was wired to an aftermarket in-line switch that was fitted next to the fog. Wasn't sure what it did so tucked it up away. In the process of trying to work out what it's purpose was I obvs flicked it on & off and left it in the off position. Struggling to think of a reason for this switch though tbh......

Anyway, nothing to do with the white thing. I'm still looking for positive confirmation as to what the 2 aforementioned mystery items are. I've taken a few more pics and tagged them onto the end of the blog about me trims, if anybody would care to have a shufty for us.....
