Hi can anyone help ive cut powersteering belt off today to refit top bolt in alternator because it seemed to be in the way ive slacked adjuster bolts and the hidden bolt behind the powersteering pulley but pump wont swing down at all is there another bolt somewhere can someone post a diagram please thanks.

there are two locking nuts/bolts + adjuster

 

large bolt behind the pulley

Long adjusting bolt on the end of adjuster arm

and on the face of the adjuster arm there is a lock nut

make sure u have undone this

you just loosen the one behind the pulley as you have then loosen the one on the face of the sort of crescent shaped piece, then use the one of the far left of the pump at the end of the crescent piece to wind it in and out. You may find it needs some encouragement to move its a damn tight fit.

I expected the whole pump to move up and down once everything was loose but it still doesn't is this normal .

They can be very stiff mate, a bit of wood and hammer will get it moving.

I know this a old post still cant get this poxey belt on it must be too small i can move the pump now its in the middle of that cresent adjuster cant get it to move anymore, belt is no where near getting on the pulley .I must have the wrong belt maybe na or uk im not sure if there diffrent or not the belt has 4 pk -862 0n it and 3688 not sure if thats the length or not any help please thanks taff .

Hi Taff, 4 pk is the amount of ribs on it (4 ribbed) 862 is the length.......

If you get stuck and still can't get it done I maybe able to sneak over to colchester sometime and have a look?

It would be nice to look at a 300zx engine that isn't in millions of bits for a change..... might kick me up the bum to actually get under my car and start bolting bits back on her......lol
