Hi,

My car was recently dyno'd and setup by turbonoz and the max it ran was around 18psi, final figure which it was set to was a max of 17 and then 14.8 (1 bar).

Recently i have noticed that no matter what setting i put my max or peak boost remains 14.3-6 and for the last few days my peak boost has come down too 14.0 psi. I have a Blitz SMD boost controller and i have tried increasing the Set and gain etc with no luck.

I recently changed the AAC valve and relating units, and it developed a hissing noise from the rear of the engine, i have check the pipes surrounding the unit and no leaks are there.

Whats the best way to tackle a boost leak (unconfirmed) and is their anyone near London who can help me with this issue?? Otherwise it will be another trip down to Jeff, which is rather far away.

is the controller set in manual? as the auto mode doesn't work well on twin turbos. and check its not in scramble mode either.

when i first fitted it to mine i had the oposite problem couldn't get the boost low and stable. as i wanted mine at 11psi, (due to its frequent problems) found i had a load of air leaks, might be worth checking the feed pipe on the contorl unit as it had come loose on mine.

also found i had too much pipe between the source and the controller was giving false readings

after that it was all sorted.

was fitted to mine and marks car before yours, but if you do find a problem with it give me a pm.

Yeah its set to manual etc, noel set it up properly, and dynod it so its not the controller must be a leak or something somewhere..

Well the piping etc seems ok from what i can see and i have used the least amount pipe so that shouldn't be the problem as it was working perfectly before. I am gonna let graham (bad300z) take a look at it on Tuesday hopefully, my lack of experience doesn't help!

Did read that too, but i checked what i could and didn't see any obvious leaks.

Strange one as the boost controller should take in to account for any leak as it monitors requested boost against achieved boost and will cycle the boost valve accordingly to give you the boost its set to however turbo lag will increase.

I can't remember offhand, do you have a mechanical boost gauge? If so, what is it reading?

Well took the car out for a drive and today it seems to be boosting fine! Can temperature affect it? i am thinking if its an issue with the controller itself.?

@Noz i didnt check my pillar gauge, will have a look

How long was that pipe? I had heard something like this before so asked in a thread not long ago but didn't get any feedback

Are the boost solenoids still connected ?

Jeff TT

You mean the originals? Yes as far as i can see both sides are disconnected!

i had the control unit in the centre console so the hose went from the engine through the firewall and into the car, once i moved it to the engine bay and then just ran wires into display in the car it was fine.

so went from about a metre to 20cm if that. and then i had stable boost.

i know you've check it, but the hose i meant is the tiny black hose (or was when it was on mine) on the control box, it gives the display its reading had come loose before. (inside the unit - couple of screws to get case off and refit it) when it was fitted or more likely when i removed it it could have come loose again.

but like i said it was working when i removed it, but i'll obviously refund it and get it sent off for repairs if you do find a problem. sorry your having problems with it.
