Hi everyone

Having a few issues with my Zeds brakes, nothing too major but would like some thoughts.

First issue is a screeching noise when braking at low speeds. It is really quite loud. It seems to happen around 10 MPH but not above. Also, it doesn't happen if I brake hard and come to a stop, only when I'm inching forward in traffic or coming to a gentle stop.

I've had a look at the rotors through the wheels and they seem okay, no gouges or marks I can see.

One thing I have noticed while crawling along with brake pressure applied is that the screeching sound fades in and out. This makes me think that maybe the brake rotors are warped? This leads to my second issue, which is my steering wheel vibrates when braking at higher speeds, usually around the 40MPH mark.

I have found that if I let go of the steering wheel and brake the wheel shakes around but the car doesn't seem to veer or change course. Very odd.

Anyway, this has led me to think I have most likely got warped brake rotors, and maybe worn pads? The pads were replaced by the previous owner not too long before I got it, but that doesn't mean they are good pads and haven't been ragged before.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers, John

Good advice guys. I'll give those things a look over.

In the event I have warped rotors, will I have to replace the rotors or can they be fixed?

Cheers

It could be that you have brake pad wear indicators that make a noise to warn you that the pads are getting low.
