What's the best oil to use for a jap import TT?

I dont know what oil has been used before, hopefully synthetic.

I've done nearly 3,000 miles so far since I bought it ,when it had an oil and filter change.

Is Mobil 1 best or Castrol Magnatex,or are they all pretty good?

Sorry if I sound'thick',but I've never had a performance car before and this is a big learning curve for me.

Cheers,

F.T.

F.T.,

I used to swear by Magantex, never put anything else in the Z.

Hi,

I always used Castrol RS in the Z32.It always seemed OK, and not too thin.Use Castrol magnatec in the Z31 as it's an older engine.

JEZ

castrol RS 10/60, bit hard to get hold of, but apparantly the zed engine loves it

ive used it every 2-3000 miles for the past 40.000 miles, its very expensive but cheaper than a rebuild.

any decent oil would be ok ,just make sure you change it often enough

i would say every 3-6000 miles and dont forget to leave your CAR STAND IDLE FOR 30-60 SECONDS

BE RELIGIOUS ABOUT THIS!!!!

leaving your car running at idle will give your turbo's time to cool down ESPECIALLY AFTER A HARD RUN.doing this will help prevent turbo failure!

IF YA CANT BE BOTHERED OR YOU FORGET LOOK INTO BUYING A TURBO TIMER

I am very careful about my turbos,

I let the car idle for 30 seconds before I first drive it, I then drive 5 miles under 3k and wait for temp to be midway and oil pressure to stabalise before I go into turbos,

last 2 miles of journey I then don't go over 3k, I then let the car sit for at least 3 minutes and I have let it sit for 10 minutes after one thrashing,

whats 5 minutes a few times a day when you think how long the zed could be off the road.

Hi,

I believe there's a couple of different weights of RS, but it was the 10/60 that I used.

They do sell it in my local Halfords, but you can't always find it in a lot of motorist shops.

If you're ever over on the Continent then buy your oil whilst there, as it's much cheaper!;)
