Whilst driving my 300 i came to a railway crossing, turned off the engine (to save the enviroment!!!), tryed to start my 300 and it didnt want to know, just turning over, after a while the battery went flat so i called a friend for a jump start. When i finally got it started it was idleing erratically and my electric fans were running continuously. every time i put my foot on the throtle the engine tryed to cut out but then roared into life whilst chucking out loads of black smoke.Managed to nurse it home after doing a whole tank of fuel(i only drove about 20miles).

Left the car over night, jumped in it in the morning and it was fine.

But now everytime i shut the door the engine revs, im confused, can someone please help?

wat planet did you buy it from?

only jokin but this is the best tech question ive ever heard of

might be 02 sensor, black smoke would be from running too rich i guess. I dont know why that would cause it to not start though, allthough if ur battery was dead for a fair while, then its porbably running rough cos the ECU has lost its self learn parameters. Shouldnt be that bad though.

i dunno

So much for trying to save the environment !

To use that much fuel in such a short distance i would suggest that you had several injectors running flat chat, hence the black smoke and reluctance to start.

Sounds like an electrical fault caused by the heat soak when you keyed off.

I'm no expert, only just bought my first 300, blew the auto box within 60 miles of picking it up :(

Hope this is of some help. Will watch the post for developments.

sounds like its posessed, i recommend a full exorcism

:D

Yes it is an import.

How do i run an ecu test?

If all else fails i will get the vicar in, perhaps some holy water in my rad will do!!!

i had the same problem and am going to agree with lymon mine was the temp sensor they it is found on the front of the engine on the top pipe ther are 2 there one has a plug on it try cleaning this one first could be a bad connection ,,,i did this and it solved the problem ,,,,if not well sorry not sure but try this first it sooo cheap

if not well sorry not sure but try this first it sooo cheap

i guess he might, but the post is two years old and he's no longer registered

lol maybe he was taken by aliens

couldbeyours sounds rite if this the temp sensor goes down then the electric fan will come on, rev higher to make the viscous fan work harder and over fuel as the extra fuel will cool the engine too. hence the black smoke. just clean yellow conector or replace if too bad. shud be rite then. mine did the same. wont start cos it's flooded.
