  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Went to do A bit of shopping and came back to a disappointing non-starter :(. Got the AA out, who was baffled with the car and ended up just recovering it home

I see I need to remove mine soon for paint job yes would like to see a pic close. is £60 just fitting and is £60 to take it out ?

Here's a picture, maybe not to everyone's liking but I like the way it seals and stops water sitting in the corners.

That's where I've seen alot of rust issues on the 300.

Damn! That is HUGE! How does it mate with the trim at the top!?

Didn't really have a better option as my existing seal was knackered and the other profiles the fitter had would of meant the glass sitting too high or the complete opposite and for water to sit in the channel which I didn't want.

He managed to fit the top plastic corners back on but obviously the rubber seal is wider and has not matched exactly to the top trim.:no

About £95. Silly money. But I had to get one. The top trim is about £180 (I reused my old one). I've just replaced all my roof trim too and that came to over £200. But this is a sports car, not a Micra, so you gotta be prepared to pay top dollar for nonsense sometimes!

I had a Porsche do I know all about paying silly money for stupid parts total rip its just unreal.

is this the rite on here http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=14180&Car_Type=NIS300&UID=2014080106410890.195.80.65

The parts are expensive, but TBH, the volumes are a lot lower than a mainstream vehicle, so you're automatically going to pay more.

Sure, that's the right one. Little cheaper than what I got mine for. UK landed is about what I paid. I got mine from MJP I think. Euro prices are about 20-30% higher.

why is called a lower seal ? does it not go all the way round inc the top

Lower seal as there is a top weather strip too which is clipped to the top of the screen before fitting. That's the expensive part and I mean real expensive! It's a rubber/metal composite. Just a silly price, mind you, it's rare that it needs replacing really.

just had a look I see now the lower seal on my car in in very good order but I take it it will be messed up removing it .,just looked at the side windows I see no to its all one piece but in the z centre thay sell the bottom trim on its own but on my car the bottom trim is connected to the seal? so what you was saying is you removed your side glass in one whole lot I take it you have to get some kind of blade in to cut it out is this done from inside the car ?

Like I said, the lower weather strip can be separated from the main seal on the rear quarters. On Z Centre, they supply the Karuma Z weather strips, which are reproductions as you can't buy that trim from Nissan and never have been able to.

Strip out the rear quarter interior panel and cut through the lower and B pillar bond from inside using a thin, but long blade knife. Also fill a little squirter bottle with Fairy Liquid and water at quite a high concentrate and use that as you cut as a lubricant. On the curved area, you cut through from the top on the outside. It takes some time, but eventually you'll cut through all the bond and you'll be able to separate the unit from the body. Don't pull the glass too much, but you can pull it a little to get the knife in deeper as the corners of where it's bonded to the B pillar are quite thick with it.

I bought a new lower boot seal for my car about 5 or 6 years ago and because I garage my car all the time, the seal is like new, so we were able to pull it off, take the rear screen out, push it back on to the screen before it was bonded back in. Still looks like new. :)

I see now yes, this car its turning in to a massive money pit of oblivion. so did yo9u use some kind of kitchen knife ? as a Stanley blade would not get in proper on the inside

No, not a kitchen knife, you need something EXTREMELY sharp AND thin. Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SELF-RETRACTING-UTILITY-KNIFE-CUTTER-SPRING-LOADED-SHARP-BLADE-HEAVY-DUTY-SAFETY-/171208029649?pt=UK_Baby_BabyFeedingUtensils_EH&hash=item27dccb35d1

Basically so that you can get a lot of the blade into the bond as it needs to reach quite deep. You WILL break blades, so make sure you have spares. I think I got through about 4 or 5.

Got any photos of the top of the rear screen all fitted up?

As you can see it doesn't line in with the targa roof trims but that doesn't bother me personally.

I suppose the rubber could be feathered into the roof trim but I think this might make it look more worse IMO.

Shouldn't do if they take their time and care. TBH, I didn't find it a problem removing them. My window guy was fappin' awesome. He's their longest serving guy there and is the one who gets sent out to all the restoration and classic car builds. He did my car before and made sure they sent him again.

I will give it bash and get em out .how did you remove the old seal gunk of the the rubber seal on the window once you had it out of do you just leave it on

Now that I didn't do, but again a thin blade should take a lot of it off. You can however get an eraser pad that you fit to a drill that burrs it off. I think soaking the bond in white spirit also helps to soften it.

Another good reason to remove the glass is so that you don't have a paint line that can peal.

This is more like what I did yesterday and today, Yesterday I sprayed my n/s front wing in aj4 I think it was ag2. I let the paint go off over night the finish from a rattle can was very good and the shade looked very close ( got the paint from Halfrauds ) so all that was needed was a little nib back with some 1200 wet and dry and some T-Cut, only problem was that after that was done I stepped back to admire my work and realized that I would have to do the rest of the car.

Here are the results of my two days work.

Looking great! I really like your car! Soooooo glad I persuaded you to keep those beautiful split rims! See you on Sunday! :)

I've recently purchased these, below are the current prices front Mike for the rear screen consumables:

Main moulding (lower and sides) £75.38

RH corner £14.05

LH corner £12.43

Upper section £90.76

Clips for upper as required 0.85 each

All plus VAT.

I replaced all of mine as the new mouldings are a glossy black finish, which in comparison to the selection of older rear upper mouldings I have, look so much nicer. Although I have gotten a bit carried away tbh as I've replaced every visible external moulding on the car now!
