  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Wiper arms all done in Matt black hammerite. Bit of old targa trim used for testing in black truck bed liner looks good too, kinda shimmery in the sunlight.

Can I use the bed liner on the scuttles I have in primer, or stick with the black bumper paint?

Opinions looks / will it even work wise appreciated

Injector kit looks smart Joel, what was the price of that and where can I get a set? Been looking to change mine since last year but as it hasn't coughed lately I've just been putting it off over cosmetic stuff.

Don't know about going quite so high in volume, but could be worth going to the nismo 555's for a little tuning possibility later..

Thinking about maybe an engine rebuild soon too, so I'm gathering parts.. Possibly forged but not sure yet as the cost is horrific lol.

Hi Paul, they aren't cheap unfortunately which is why it's taken me so many years to progress this step! I purchased these from SpecialtyZ as the combined package cost was better VFM in comparison to Z1/CZP. Probably the main reason for using SZ is that they hold such a vast database of maps for my setup, that the off-the-shelf chip they supply should be good for a while until I can get the car to Protuner.

Greg Dupree at SZ has been a great help (along with others such as Jimmer, AndrewG and Funky) in choosing the right components for this upgrade, but I do agree that 740cc is way more than I will ever need, the 555 (615cc) injectors would've been plenty but SZ don't sell these. E85 is available in many states over there which allows most cars to utilise the higher flow rate of the 740's so he sells these for further proofing upgrades and has mapped 1000's of cars with them.

I could've purchased the 615cc kit from Z1 which would've possibly been slightly cheaper but I specifically wanted the JWT adaptor kit (no modifications required) and a SZ chip. I did have a set of Nismo 555cc injectors with the old style connectors that would've plugged straight in but opted to sell them on in order to upgrade to the pintleless Tomei/Nismo later style jobbies and as I already had a Wiring Specialties harness, a $25 harness meant I could neatly change out the connector types.

Information from Greg@SZ on the 740cc pintle less injectors:

http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/main/view/1100871/Re-740cc-and-stock-boost.html

Pintle less injectors are much more controllable (even large ones like 740cc) particularly at idle compared to

pintle ones of the same flow rate.

Very interesting Joel, gotta say that the adapter kit does look much tidier than most I've seen.

I'm kind of stuck in indecisive mode at the moment about where to go with my car.

I really need to work on the handling but I'm against lowering it as I don't want to lose chassis over speed humps etc.. My area is full of them.

Shame I didn't know about the nismo injectors you had cos I'd have bought them off you, as always, time is limited and my ability to get in here has become very limited due to work and family..

I'm looking for another car atm, so I can get the z off the road and begin refurbing as much as I can before it goes past the point of expensive repairs.

Being a daily driver is racking up miles and wear and tear, I think it's about time I reduced the use of the old girl and gave her some down time.

So things will start to happen once a decent second car is sourced.

If anyone wants a little KA I know where there's a good one lol.

Also If anyone has good condition targa vinyl trims (inside the targa behind the plastic handles.) let me know as mine have peeled the vinyl and I got sick of it patting the back of my head so pulled it off

So if anyone has a pair going, pm me..

Well today i've been drilling snapped nuts out the most boring thing i think there is to do on a car, since my arms were starting to ache i balanced the drill on a trolley jack so made life a lot easier :scared:

That's genius gee!

Have you tried the extractors yet? I got to say, they are pretty damn good.

Yeah i tried the nut extractors only 1 came out !! i think they''ve mind melded into the car, well tapped in some new threads so got 1 more to drill tommorow if the weather is good

Truly impressive Gaz, somehow I do not think your Zed gets the appreciation that it deserves mate.

Again, impressive.

Battery back in and most of the bulkhead now cleaned.

I only cleaned it last week!

100% agreed.

Went for a nice long drive to the lakes. No parking, so just came back!

Nice to have a long Z trip, but two problems:

- targa tops lead to major sun burn

- my ears are still ringing from the Japspeed exhaust on mountain roads

Today I went to Leyland car show which is part of the towns yearly festival. Had a brilliant time, wasn't sure what it was going to be like as I hadn't been before. My Z even ended up in the parade through the town with hundreds of people lining the streets.

We need to get a few Z's there next year for sure!
