  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

I'm getting your PMs Ali, just can't reply. Need to sort my subs out on pay day.

Alright, could you have a chat to Alex etc and see if we can do it around late October or early November would be ideal, but it all depends on you.

Hi thanks for the comment, that pic is not a good quality pic!

Nice, what skirts are they?

The teardown continues.

Most of the interior out ready to pull the dash.

Silly question: are most of the petrol-stations along the higways open on sunday in UK?

Fitting the clutch pedal will be 100xs easier with that lot out the way.

Yeah that's what I read in a guide I read. If you don't remove the dash you'll spend just as long trying to put it in than if you had done. Also plan to route the boost controller and clean up some wiring so will help me in that way too.

Other than remove the dash's of both cars, and attempt to try and take the gearbox out, anything else should I do to prep (within reason)?

And when I know when you're going to come down, I will collect a list of things such as oil etc to buy. I think I will keep the clutch that's in there for now as i can't splash out that money, if its ruined well then I can swap it some other time.

I've just PM'd you bud.

You know you only have to remove the clocks to fit the clutch pedal right? Not the entire dash assembly...?

..

It has been recommended by many that the simplest way to install the 5 speed pedal system is to remove the dash first. I elected to see if the pedals could be install without removing the dash, and I found that it was possible, but it was pretty difficult, required near inhuman bending, and in the end took almost as long as it would have to remove the dash. The choice is up to you. Both ways take a while.

You've two options here: you can either live or die by what you've read online... or you can listen to someone who's physically done the conversion...

Your choice.

There's a top bolt on the clutch pedal assembly that I simply could not get into position, or started on it's thread. I tried for a couple of hours, but no joy.

So I removed the clocks and, lo and behold, I could both see and reach the top bolt with absolute ease. Job jobbed.

Clocks removed, dash in situ.

Oi!

Using a guide recommended by the club from twinturbo.net not from bob in his underground shed. Stephen even just said it is much easier lol. I think I'll take my chances.

If you want a read of it here:

Had a read. All sounds very familiar... except for pulling the dash.

The guide I read at the time recommended removing the clocks, not the entire dash. And my clutch pedal went in nice and easy once the clocks were out of the way.

We did it with the dash in Ali, both times. It's a **** though. As mondo says that top bolt is a nightmare. If your doing other stuff it makes sense.

In honesty I have a few jobs under the dash that need doing anyway, and it's really not that hard so it just makes sense.

Honestly though, there is no need to go all Frankenstein because you disagree. Just say what you just said instead of complaining about guides online. I use whatever advice I can get.
