  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Z passed MOT today  She did 2500 miles since last MOT and the examiner said " That car in some shape"

Nice one Gary - no surprise there, though mate....:bow:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Today I fitted all the bose speaker enclosures In the zed,up front I mounted some JL Audio C2525 components, these fitted really well in the enclosures.

As the stock speaker size for the bose is a triangular shape I modified the opening

The gaps around the circular mount were filled using epoxy plastic filler and then all sanded flat to give a nice tight baffle to mount the new speakers too.

In the rears I fitted JL Audio C3650 which fitted with no modifications, even the screw holes matched the originals.

I used some poly fill in the enclosures after some trials and it sounded better to me, I also covered the boxes in dynamat to stop the plastic walls resonating.

I must say the difference in sound is night and day over the standard speaker mounts in the zed, it's now very clear and punchy and sounds like there's a sub somewhere!

I'm planning on mounting a discreet sub on the left side of the boot just to bring in some low frequencies but after that the sound system is finished. :thumbup1:

Had a jaunt down to Lee Dents today with a few niggle issues on zebedee to sort out. Ended up fitting these (Brembo R33 GTR setup) , many thanks Hellraiser for the quick delivery.

That looks absolutely stunning coopd..

You should be very proud of yourself for maintaining that car..

It's an amazing example mate

Well, today has been an emotional one..

I drove up to Shrewsbury with my best mate following in his celica and left the real love of my life with a great guy known to us all as doctor dent..

Spent a few hours getting to know Lee and a few other guys including Ian greenfield.. (I think) lol..

All the guys were really nice and felt very welcoming..

Today is the last day that my fairlady nostrils will be in her cocoon..

Felt sad to leave her behind but i know that when I go to bring her home, she'll be the butterfly I've always known she would be..

Miss those keys, miss looking out the window and seeing her there, but simply cannot wait to see the metamorphosis.. Iknow Lee will take great care of her and she'll be full of life again when she cones back to me...

Thank you Lee..

I too have to leave mine today... Just about to hit the road to drop it off at Keith's again for the final few paint touch ups. I do hate having to leave it but will look great just in time for Coventry

Sold it.

You'll get another one in time matey, I hope you're going to stick around here:yes:

I’ve had a productive weekend and finished all the work I needed to do to the engine . In addition to the valve cover seals I replaced the other week, I’ve now done the following:

- New upper plenum and IACV gaskets

- Z1 silicone PCV hoses

- Z1 silicone IACV hoses

- SFS Performance silicone brake vacuum hoses

- New PCV valves

- Cleaned inside plenum and inlet manifold with manifold/carburettor cleaner.

- Cleaned all injector and coil pack connections with contact cleaner

- Replaced spark plugs with NKG Iridium plugs.

- New balance tube O-rings

- Resealed the pipe that comes out of the exhaust valve cover and connects to PCV valve

It was frustrating to have the car off the road (again) while I was waiting for parts from Z1, but I’m really happy with the end result. Now I’m trying to decide where to go for a drive…:whistling:

Next on the to-do list is convert the speedo and look at replacing the bulbs so it matches my ‘crisp white’ LED pods…

Repainted the new tweeter pods today, I wasn't 100% happy with the finish on the first attempt, I got the finish too smooth, upon looking closer at the original sail panels I noticed there was a slight texture to them as with most interior parts so I gave them another coat of filler primer but this time I didn't flat it after it dried I just sprayed it with the plasti kote matt black and it gave me a near perfect finish to the original

They're looking good. It's a great mod in my opinion.:thumbup1:

I'm tempted to make a set of these myself. Although they'd be an improvement over my current coaxial speakers, i don't know if i'd hear the difference over my exhaust...

She's in good hands mate, will be like a different car when you get her back. Mines with Lee at the moment.

That's a great bit of work there Chris, looks like something you bought!

Well done mate.

Started working on my new speaker installation for the front doors today.. Didn't have a lot of time but I cut the panels out and rounded the edges off, cut the hole to house the speaker on each panel and finally coated the two pieces in glass cloth and poly resin.

Anyone that knows me, will know that my mod isn't going to be simply that, of course there'll be something unique about this project..

Here's a couple of photos of the progress so far..
